I can see why they put spotting on though. In real life it would be easy to point or gesture to your squadmates where the enemy is, this is just the virtual world's way of communicating enemy positions. Its a good feature, but perhaps it should last a lot less time than it does in BC2.

We the community have looked in depth at BF3 spotting and concluded it's the same as BC2 after an in depth analysis, I have seen nothing in this thread to show otherwise.

'We the community'

LOL

You talking out of your bum morelike.

You are not the whole battlefield community, we're part of it too.

You don't even have the alpha, so you cannot say that it is the same. Dice have probably already adjusted it. This alpha people are playing is not going to be the most up-to-date version of the game they have built.

I was just in a game as a Sniper, i spotted a guy, he ran behind a tree, the tag disappeared. But clearly ive no idea what im talking about.

Have to say though i love the laser pointer effect that hits you in the face when someone has it on their rifle, looks just like real life. :)

Yup, even the Ballistics damage has changed according to demize.

Brilliant. From everything I've heard/read/seen the lighting effects in this game are quite awesome

right this is my last post on the spotting.

In bc2 you can aim at the marker and you will hit them even if you cant see the enemy.

In bf3 the marker is a fair way above there head so it doesn't give you an exact position, this makes is a lot harder to shoot at the enemy if you cant see them and are just shooting because they are marked.

Tags seem to disappear if enemy takes cover.

I've been looking at videos and reading the comments from the Alpha players in this thread, and i've pre-ordered the game from OcUK.

Keep posting updates Alpha players please.

Playing as sniper earlier as well, if you keep moving and get to cover you can render the spot marker obsolete, not like bfbc2 were once youve been spotted, you stay spotted regardless of cover or not.

Laser marker is a nice touch, first time i got it shone on me i was like, "now thats cool". Followed very quickly by me being shot.

I was waiting for a post like this, it is absolutely nothing like real life.
You can't tell where people are when they have left your line of sight and have kept moving. You can't tell people quickly enough where an enemy is when they are over 100m away either.

But I understand where you said virtual, they should've added a compass bearing or "enemies at 12/1/5o'clock" with a pop up watch point, so that they dont give your position away too easily but make you look in the general direction. Have it so they players below a certain distance and it will yell, "Enemy Infantry (danger) CLOSE!" But I'm certain they'll have a way to remove it, that's all I care about, I hate playing normal mode bc2 D:

If you pre-order from ocuk, is it an actual physical copy or a voucher for a downloadable copy, much in the way that ocuk gave out copies of games with certain hardware purchases. I still prefer to have a physical copy of certain games and figured i may as well buy it from ocuk.

No idea, it was just cheaper than another place i use, i purchased it on the 'this week only' offer.

I know you can't tell where people are when they leave your line of sight, that is unrealistic, but you can give your squadmates a gist of the general direction as to where the enemy may be (real life: pointing and "he's over there!"). I wouldn't be in favour of a "radar" system, but just to give your squad mates the general direction of where the enemy is, is a good feature to have.

Alright, alright, calm yourself down.

Turn this into a provoked reponse? No, how about reply to the actual topic I replied about.
Edit: then you do, instead of making one post D:

But can you agree they could do a better method than brightly coloured and contrasting markers?
