Option 1 is how it currently is, option 2 is a possible solution (obviously the compass could be a lot more discrete than the way I have excellently (crudely, ahem) illustrated.
 
Don't the army have proper system for giving the exact location + the leader taking tracer rounds to mark it.



But you really cant expect people to have to learn a large complicated military code system in a game that's not ARMA.
 
I just realised why my account didn't get the alpha! I didn't verify my email address on my EA profile, hopefully the alpha should come soon?

The alpha is very limited and very few people got into it even if it looks like a lot of people did get in. Majority of us did NOT get in. I personally don't know anyone who got in.

This is true. I don't want this game to be like Arma in complexity. It's just a game at the end of the day, defib paddles, infinite ammo boxes, motion sensor balls....aren't these enemy markers a bit of a drop in the ocean anyway?

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not complaining, all things added together make a good game.
 
I was waiting for a post like this, it is absolutely nothing like real life.
You can't tell where people are when they have left your line of sight and have kept moving. You can't tell people quickly enough where an enemy is when they are over 100m away either.

But I understand where you said virtual, they should've added a compass bearing or "enemies at 12/1/5o'clock" with a pop up watch point, so that they dont give your position away too easily but make you look in the general direction. Have it so they players below a certain distance and it will yell, "Enemy Infantry (danger) CLOSE!" But I'm certain they'll have a way to remove it, that's all I care about, I hate playing normal mode bc2 D:

It seems stupid to me, its just a game of press q and shoot the triangle. You end up killing someone from miles away or being killed from miles away. Its just a mess of hud stuff which tells you what to do and where to go.

I prefer up close, where the enemy is more than a couple of pixels big.

To be honest though, it isn't all that often that firing at little triangles actually results in a kill, for me anyway.
 
From our analysis we have concluded that the 3D spot follows the spotted player through all cover and does not go static or go away when the enemy takes cover. This is reports from players and checking alpha footage leaked on youtube. I can't see how anyone can claim it's different when there is visual proof showing otherwise.




Care to explain why it is less of an issue?

Because when i first tried it i did not know how it worked . now i know i can clear the flag by getting cover its less of an issue . Although not all cover clears the flag hence why i said it can still be a pain .

I have flagged an enemy sniper and done some suppresion fire and he has ducked down below the rocks and his flag has cleared and when he pops up and just reflag him (rock was in the middle of no other cover so he could not move ) . The trouble is if you hide to unflag (normally going prone ) chances are someone will run up and get you if there close enough .

Im sure the finished game will be better but it works if u understand it

Option 2 would be good. I can remember in the film tears of the sun, a member of the seal team carried a type of tablet/pad unit that was able to show enemy location relevant to their position. Possibly a bit of hollywood licensing, but with uav's and modern satellites, surely the ability to track troop movements is there now. And can be translated to a game.
