Then head on over to the Battlefield 3 Alphatrial page, and see if you’re eligible to download the alpha for the forthcoming game. Some deduction work by RPS spy Phill suggests that those who have the big three-o or higher seem to be amongst the lucky few who get to play the game already. Those below do not.

Or are these the fevered imaginings of a dangerous loon? Let us know. We might be onto something.

Nope not true.

I am level 47 (around 350HRS of gaming) with a veteran status of 9 (shows that in game but on website shows as 8) and signed up to the newsletter and I can't get into the alpha.

Take me out of the alpha invite i personally think the emails are an insult, in what right do some of the people become TRUSTED and valued alpha testers?. Just because they have the newsletter and a few vet games ffs.

because they need a nice random cross section of their core market.

and their "trusted" in the sense they agree to binding legal conditions.

So it's worked then?, going by the mass of videos and screenshots and there is also talk of a leaked build being worked on. Not having a go at you fella just in discussion

well that's why it's the public working alpha the real "trusted" ones are the ones that did the closed tech alpha's where they REALLY don't want people posting videos as it would make the game look really bad.

Not enjoying this at all to be honest. Trying my hardest to like it as well but it just feels like a bad console shooter. Its about as far removed from battlefield 2 as you can get in its current state as well.

Well, i got the alpha trial, tbh, its not something to get worked up about, It;s an alpha trial, very basic, bloody boring tbh. Played it for an hour or so today, went back to bfbc2. Yes, you can strafe while sprinting, you can spot, but once you hit cover, spotting is gone. Its ok so far, but as it's extremely early ill wait a while.

if you can get in why wait? try it out and see what you think, if you dont like it then wait for the finished product, if you do then great.

my impressions are that the mechanics are great, the graphics and animations brill, its just really restricted by what I think is an awful rush map, the subway is a nightmare to play as either side, doesn't give any margin for strategy

Has to be said, "Metro" is an incredibly boring map. Too many chokepoints and only one miserable vehicle. Makes port Valdez look like a masterpiece.
