New car - just call me Alan

I looked at IS200s (saloons) before I bought the 330d (infact could have been before buying the LCR!), and I was left utterly underwhelmed by the interior, the whole feel was a bit "odd", and the tacky £20 chronometer watch-like dials made me feel like I was looking at an Argos catalog.

The car was smooth though, and it did feel quite involving to drive (although as you say, not quite as composed as the e46), certainly a decent purchase for under £4,000 either way, even better if you don't find the interior to be "iffy" ;)

Enjoy it anyway, got to be better than an ageing Accord.

See I really like the interior, especially the dials! I guess its a love it or hate it affair - they are quite overstyled. Although the plastics are still distinctly japanese, there's definitely an air of quality about it, much more so than "normal" japanese brands. Its a step up in every way from the Honda so I'm a happy man. I think if you compare the mk1 IS to the E46 (lets be honest, thats what Lexus were targetting) - the E46 is probably the better car all around. However, as a purchase, I think this takes some beating :)

Heart FM? :(

I've got an excuse for that - was at my parents who live in the sticks, the Xcarlink had the wrong connector so I only had radio and the only stations I could get to listen to while cleaning were that and radio 3

Good job, shame its not an auto though.

Thats exactly why I got the 200 rather than the 300 - manual gearbox. The box is superb and I think it suits the car nicely.

Edit - been a while since Ive been around here and still trying to reaclimatise - DM = DiamondMark?
