****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

what's so special about the GS2?

The fact that it's pretty much a unparalleled jack of all trades. It does everything i could want a smartphone to do, but more importantly, in nearly every category it is the best at it.

Other than niggles such as the camera not quite being the best on the market (but still outstanding) and the build quality, while more than strong enough, not being up there with the best, everything else is just top notch.

If you can stretch to a 24 month contract you will easily find it for £25/month, there's a chance of getting it for 18 months at that price if you wait for a good deal. Good deals for this come every couple of weeks or so.

Where's the cheapest place to pick one of these up sim free now?

Cant wait to get off iphone and back to android, and theres no point going for anything other than the S2 imo,

Thanks

Any way to make the phone lock itself after 5, 10, 15 min idle time before it requires the pin/swipe again?

It's very annoying that I have to type the pin so often.

I'd like this too, i'd like the screen to switch off after 15 seconds but the phone to actually lock after say 1 min.

From KG1 you can set the time that the screen locks after it turns off under Settings > Location and Security > Timeout. I have my screen set to turn off after 15 seconds and lock 1 minute after that.

EDIT: Lol Streeteh I didn't even see your post and you're after the exact setup I'm using :D

Hi,

Just a quick question really about the calender app. It seems to not want to automatically sync up with my online google calender? It does it the other way round so when I add an event to my phone and I go open the calender online the event is there. But if I add an event on the online calender I have to manually go into the calender and sync it, anyway to get it to do it automatically?

Thanks.

Post screenshot of your browser's calendar window and also one of the phone's calendar settings screen where you choose what calendars to sync please, makes things so much easier rather than having to type the same thing every few weeks or so when this topic comes up :p

Download Delayed Lock by j4velin from the market.

It is absolutely EXCELLENT! It has additional plugins for location, wifi, bluetooth etc, so say, it will not lock at all when connected to a certain wifi network etc...

If you hold your Galaxy S 2 in your hand as normal and tap it at the top, does it sound like their is something lose to you? Mine feels like there's something rolling around inside it and I only had this replacement today!

Nope, not on mine.

That's 2 faulty units now.... Just called t-mobile and got another one ordered for tomorrow. FFS!

Even the top of the screen when tapped creates a noise as if something is loose. Ugh

Right, my phones arrived and am enjoying it much more second time, although a few of the reasons I didn't like it still exist - N64oid artifacts on Zelda, no volume longpress for music control, no LED.

I have a quick question though; I've rooted it and am running villainrom with Ninphetamine kernal - but should I have installed the updated original kernal prior to installing ninph?

Edit: Oh and is there a comprehensive list of all the crap on the phone I can delete with Titanium?
