Does anyone know how to use the engineers flashlight? At the minute it seems to be if you go into iron sights mode it comes on automatically? (from what ive observed by looking at engineers)

Both are essentially the same weapon, the m16 has a fixed stock, m4a1, (current version) has a telescopic stock.

Well it runs pretty terrible on my system :p, i feel like i'm doing 25fps at times

It's the GPU :(

Well I only get 35 FPS with a GTX 470 overclocked from 607 to 750 and my i7 920 is only running at a canter, so it's not the CPU holding back the game either. Lowering the settings doesn't give any extra performance, so I'll just give them the benefit of the doubt it's an alpha and there's plenty of optimizations to come.

I loved battlefield 2 and if this game is like it, then it's going to occupy me for a long time. Thus a pc would be a worthwhile investment.

Sorry if it's already been asked, but what sort of spec would you need to run this game at max quality at 1920x1080? AA isn't important for me really btw.

Thanks

But they both can in real life

Yes but how do they actually differ in terms of gameplay? There must be a difference apart from their skin/model if they both have full auto

The M16A3 was a fully automatic variant of the M16A2 adopted in small numbers around the time of the introduction of the M16A2 (1980's), primarily by the U.S. Navy for use by SEAL, Seabee, and Security units.

My point being, a full auto M16 is something that is not really used or seen today. It is more rare than the AK47 you see in every other shooter game.

So my question, since for some daft reason they put a full auto M16 in BF3, how does it differ from the M4 apart from the skin/model?

Hard to say at present as theyre still optomising and theres a good chance theres more graphics options that aren't selectable right now that will be in the final game.

So whats your opinion on it having now finally played the alpha or have i missed a rant somewhere in the last few pages of this thread?

No teamplay whatsoever, communication with your team and squad is non existent as are orders becuase of the social key, yeah I' not enjoying it.

I understand it's alpha so hopefully at lot will change for the beta, I hope Dice will listen to the community and bring the commo-rose back, the game would be so much better with this and will make it less of a casual fps.

Any ideas how to tweak the graphics. Seem to be getting 30 - 40 FPS on auto with:

i7 920
6 gig ram
4890 Toxic
@ 1920 x 1080

Some area's I get decent FPS but im fairly sure my 4890 should be pulling more FPS since it works fine with crysis 2 , shogun etc.

I have changed the settings around from low / med / high / auto but the FPS pretty much stays the same.

Edit : installed the new ATi 11.7 drivers, slight improvement but not by much : (

Ive noticed a couple of issues with hit reg, one time i was hiding in a crater in the ground and somehow got killed by mg fire going over the top of me, despite me being a good couple of feet under it. If anything the rounds would have hit around the top, but the way i died it was like i was floating above the hole instead of being in it (as i was).
