How do you chaps think this will pan out from a competitive POV ? Obviously {SAS} have a history of scrimming and (fun) competitive play but I cant see how its going to work out without some form of control over the unranked cfg files.

I’ve given up on a server release and we are making provision for a server rental (on top of the co-lo) but it will be difficult to justify to the clan if there’s no ladders / leagues.
It’s a fact that you can not play competitive with the stock version of any game so how on earth are they going to facilitate this aspect, or are they simply not going to bother like they did with BC2 ?

Engine might be nice, but the flow and balance is still not there.

You put a full clip into someone and they kill you with 1 shot from a AK somehow, same thing happend in MOHA, same thing happend in BC2.

I have experienced this aswell.

One of the recon gun seems to have big recoil. While lying down in prone position and shooting, the gun seems to go high a lot after each burst.

Also commo rose definitely needs to make a comeback although not sure if they can implement it at this stage since wouldn't ths affect quite a substantial part of programming code?

I remember in BF2142, when someone using commo rose in russian language and it sounded like something like this:

' hesto me e slasha' lol:p It still makes me laugh hearing it:p

Commo rose will definitely add human feel to the game and more team play interaction

Anyone get the feeling that this isn't really an Alpha and we'll only see minor changes in the full release? Feels more like a marketing kick for more pre-orders.

If anything the MOH multiplayer was Alpha for this.

I would hope that they would change a few things. This is more of a server testing alpha than a game alpha. It has given them some insight into the community's wants and needs but whether they act on that/are allowed to act on that is another matter.

To the nay sayers :- have you played the game for more than just an hour or so?

I played the hell out of it last night, got to rank 6, and I've gotta say I'm amazed with how awesome it is!

It is not even comparable to BC2, it feels nothing like it, the weapons/movement all feel so much better.

I couldn't even play BC2 in normal mode due to the amount of bullets it takes to kill someone and the annoying spotting system, both of which have been improved for BF3.

The amount of bullets it takes to kill feels spot on (snipers could do with more power) and also the spotting is actually pretty good, it does however work differently from BC2, if you can see someone you can spot them, but then if they move behind cover out of sight the triangle disappears.

I can understand the use of this feature, as it does make up for lack people using of voice comms in a public game, I imagine I will be playing HC mode in the full game tho so it wont even come into play.

Suppressing fire is really useful as well, but subtle enough to not make people cry.

I cant wait for the beta/full game :S

This game actually runs really well on my PC, even on high :)
But am saving for an upgrade!

My specs:

Q9550 @ 3.3
ATI 6870
4gb ram

Also, you'd be a fool to buy a new PC now!! Alpha runs out on the 1st, at least wait till the beta comes out to upgrade!!!!

I agree it feels more like MoH than BC2. The spotting is **** as it doesnt go off when you dive into a bush. If I dive behind a rick or wall it goes off but if I am in foliage I am no more visible than behind a wall but I am more vulnerable so really they should not be able to see me.

I think the supression is ok but I think it could be perhaps a touch more severe. Also as I have said before I would like the screen to shake/blur when hit as at the moment I can barely tell if I have been shot or not.

Yeah the suppression effect could be more pronounced, its a lot less than the effect in say, Darkest Hour.

The only thing that feels even slightly like MOH are the guns, but even then they are drastically improved, recoil is spot on.

Yeah the spotting isn't great but its a lot better than in BC2, and if its a massive problem we can all just play hardcore? :)

Would still love a key if anyone has a spare, i know a lot to ask. Level 5 Veteran i am and no invite... lol.. sniff sniff... I do hope this game is gonna be the dawgs baws :D

Mate, you better believe it, at first I thought it felt a bit odd, but once I got into it I was amazed.

It is neither MOH, BC2 or BF2, it feels for me like a massive step forward and a proper Battlefield sequal. (I know metro is a small map, but this is going on the fact that I know there is 64 players, massive maps and vehicle combat in the full game)

Seriously do not worry, it feels so good to play, the gunplay is amazing, this is will and truly battlefield

Sure there is not of this "mouse tapping" shooting from bad company, but the recoil on the guns feels realistic (from my experience with colt 45/m4/ak47) but very controllable, everything just feels so tight!!

I am not used to the gunplay feeling so good on a game on this scale, this is going to blow everyone away!

Please tell me this is nothing like MOH, I keep seeing that name popping up, I really hope its more like BC2 and BF2?? PLEASE PLEASE NOT MOH!!!

What was wrong with MoH multiplayer? I only played a few hours of MoH multiplayer but I thought it was ok. A lot of people say it is like MoH because the menus and weapon customisation all draw heavily from MoH. As does the feel of the weapons, although as Davepen rightly pointed out recoil is greater but I still think it could be a touch more, especially when firing fully automatic.
