Battlefield 3 thread - Server details in opening post -

Wow so i instal new ati drivers then when i try to launch the game it says generic game error code has been reported.


To be honest the only thing this game atm has going for it is good sounds.

The graphics are terrible sure its an alpha but there still horrible.

It feels to much like moh with a touch of Bad company 2 they better expand upon it a lot to make it a REALLLL bf game.


That and i hate the face that i can be in a bush and press q in a random direction and itl then give me triangles of people i cudnt see but now can cos i just spotted them without even really seeing them.

Thats ********* removes stealthy game play completely.

At the moment battlefield 2 is a masterpiece compared to this crap.

Calm down it's only alpha.
 
I know its the alpha and i guess to test core gameplay which to be honest is crap also.

Shooting and killing people is too easy theres barely any recoil on anything.

Everything feels goofy i can be crawlinng up a hill and siddenly an imaginary wall hits me but theresnothign in my way that sort of the the enviroment is very buggy.

Theres to much wrong with it.

To people who think the graphics even look remotely okay I cant beleive ud thhink that sure its a alpha but its just :| depressing.
 
The beta nvidia drivers i downloaded earlier have worked a treat :D can now enjoy the game without fear of a freeze :D
 
I only had a quick go and quite like it but I'll be giving it a decent go tonight! Is no-one else liking it?

Quite like the whole web browser boot system too.

No it's to test server load, stability and compatibility.

the beta is to test gameplay.

yeah because you're playing an old build that's not finished and might not even be the full map.

You can see why we don't get many alpha's these days with retards thinking it's a demo.

Not a massive fan of the web browser booting system but really enjoying the game. Wish there was a different map though as getting past the start of Metro is just too difficult (what with the ridiculously easy spotting which hopefully gets tweaked).

too be honest i agree people say its the alpha but the core game play is garbage.

its moh all over again but they called it bf3 . if they would have called it moh 2 it wouldnt of sold anything.

as for anyone saying that map is good :p absolutley **** .

yes its alpha but they aint going to redesign the game the game is done 99 percent. this wont last like bfbc2 it will be a short pass by game for a few months.

No web browser boot is stupid. I open Origin and launch the game which opens my browser and I log in to Battlelog and connect to a server which then reopens Origin and launches the game. It is stupid and contrived and if it makes it anywhere near the final release then somebody at DICE will be receiving a massive slap.
 
I'm loving it, was a bit dubious about it at first but once I got into it I really love it, I dont understand these people moaning, I bet if you checked their played time/kills they would barely have any.

Have you played the game for longer than 30 minutes??? Me thinks you need to have another go!

How exactly is the core gameplay "garbage"??? I think its a revelation!

That was always the plan though. This game is not designed to last like BF2 at most they want you to get 2 years out of it but ideally less than a year so they can sell you MoH2 then BF4 then MoH3 then BF5 etc etc.

Same, wasnt too sure to begin with all the camping and stuff but after a couple of hours on a good server, im beginning to really enjoy it :D
 
Reading through this thread has made me glad I decided to skip Alpha and Beta testing of games I plan to play.

Remember the Alpha is predominantly about server side issues and final bug testing. Judging maps, graphics and even the 3D spotting at this stage is a bit silly.

In fact BF3 seems to be bringing quite a lot of numpties out in force on this forum.

"GFX in alpha are ****"

"Why cant I get into the non public invite only test?"

"No XP support for BF3"

Yeah, I should prob calm down ...

How long it lasts I believe will come down to how good/varied the maps are, and how good the vehicle combat is, well, for me personally.

the truth will out as they say, having put more than 12+ hours in i think its doing well.
 
I think the reason some people are not liking the map as attacker is because in order to take down the MCOMs you need to work as a team. Defending is easy, you just set up camp somewhere in view of the MCOM and wait till someone makes a move for it...simples. However, get a good team as attacker and its just as easy to blow the MCOMs. Run the LAV in there with suppressing fire while the MCOM is armed and then defend the MCOM with grenades and the LAV - the defenders don't stand a chance. I'd say the games I've played as atacker it's been 50/50 whether we take the first set of MCOMs or not. That doesn't seem unbalanced to me.

It's just the same in BC2 - get a good defending team and an attacking team that just sits around sniping, Isla for example and the attackers don't stand a chance - so I don't see why people are complaining about this map specifically, just something else for them to be seen moaning about tbh. Don't blame the map on poor teamplay.

I will conceed that in the Alpha version I've played, the spawning is somewhat broken so most times you start at the very back of the map as opposed to being able to spawn on your squad leader but that will be fixed, which does make it harder than it should be.
