Things you should know how to do

1. Age? 19
2. Live at home with parents or not? Live at home with parents (Uni halls in Sept)

And lastly, can you or do you know how to:

3. Wire a standard 3 pin plug:
Yes
4. Change a wheel on a car if you get a puncture: Yes
5. Work the washing machine properly: Yes
6. Iron shirts: Yes
7. Boil an egg: Yes

You've never cooked one before? :o I am shocked. Curious, how would you do it?

i'd ask my mum for the basics and then spice it up with a few ideas out of a recipe book. lamb would be my first attempt and then go straight in for a 3 bird roast the following week. the chinese takeaway menu would be by the phone.

Haha, fair play. I'm just shocked that someone of your age has never made a roast before. Treat your family next week!

3. Wire a standard 3 pin plug - Yes
4. Change a wheel on a car if you get a puncture - No
5. Work the washing machine properly - Yes
6. Iron shirts - Yes
7. Boil an egg - No (Never eat eggs - Don't like 'em :p)

I was surprised to see changing a wheel on a car up there - Is it really meant to be common knowledge? I wouldn't even know where to start :/

Funny thing is that I learnt most of the things on the go as I got a job at 19 with a small private housing group that housed minorities and other people the local authorities didn't want to deal with. As a result a lot of our 'clientèle' had to be educated on the basic things such as how to use the washing machines, how now to set house on fire while cooking, using hot water (one guy complained he couldn't get his bath the right temperature because water was too hot in the hot water tap, I just turned the cold on to mix them...god bless his cotton socks!), not to knack electric kettle by boiling milk in it, not to put hot pans on the carpets and burning big holes in them as a result and many other things a lot of us take for granted!

Picked up a tonne of experience with small DIY jobs as well as a lot of the time it was easier and quicker just to do them yourself rather than fill out paperwork for the maintenance team, probably the best job a young man could have bar joining the army in terms of life experience!

Pull over, remove phone from pocket, call the AA, wait. Easy ;)

Alternatively you could change it the GTA way. But this does require a firearm of some sort and a degree of amorality.

5. Work the washing machine properly. Yes
6. Iron shirts. Yes, although hate doing it
7. Boil an egg. Yes

My parents are the kind of parents that say 'if you can't do it, then it's not getting done' :)

1. Age? 21
2. Live at home with parents or not? yep, in between graduating and starting work

3. Wire a standard 3 pin plug - why would anyone but an electrician know how to do this?
4. Change a wheel on a car if you get a puncture - don't drive so no
5. Work the washing machine properly - turn the washer machine to 40 and press start?
6. Iron shirts - never tried but it doesn't look to hard so probably
7. Boil an egg - yep

YOU DON'T LIKE EGGS?

No.

But anyway... so you're saying you couldn't boil an egg if your partner wanted one? :|

I have no idea. It's not particularly abnormal to not know if you can do something you've never attempted before. It's far more likely she'd just boil her own egg.

I doubt its hard to learn, but at this point in time, I have never boiled an egg as I've no interest in eating one.
