Do Seagate deal with RMAs within the UK?

As title - reason I ask is that I have a 500GB drive of theirs which failed a little while back (on reallocated sector count), but can't really be bothered going through the whole Seatools diagnostic report/RMA request process if I'll ultimately have to post it overseas. I bought a new drive shortly after it failed so any replacement would just be sold, and seeing as drives are so cheap now I don't know if it's even worth the effort. Anyone know? Thanks.

Thanks for the info, looks like I might give it a go then (warranty expires Jan 2012, so may aswell return it if it can be done cheaply).

Ok, so have gone through the RMA request process, but on reading their return instructions it says I must return the drive in 2-inch thick foam packing and that bubble wrap is not to be used - if I do, then my warranty may be invalidated. Guess I won't be bothering after all then. Not going on a goose chase and spending money on packaging materials for a drive I don't even need once returned. Annoying.

I've sent my Seagate returns in a small box with the hdd in an anti-static bag surrounded by bubblewrap before, no problem. Its only going to Milton Keynes at their DHL pickup point so not big postage, fiver i think recorded delivery.

Don't have a problem with the postage cost (goes to a UPS depot in Coventry), and the drive has an anti-static bag, but their return details states quite adamantly:

Enclose the static-protected drive(s) in 2-inch foam rubber in a corrugated box. Multiple drives in a single box must have foam rubber between each drive. DO NOT USE foam packing pellets, bubble wrap, or newspaper

The warranty is void if the drive is improperly packaged

Dunno what to do... the foam they're on about isn't readily available from what I can see. It's also somewhat ironic given that every drive I've ever bought has been shipped to me packaged in the forbidden bubble wrap.

I've sent a drive back to Seagate at their UK handling address (Coventry I think it was). I didn't have the requisite packaging and used what I had to hand - a stout box and some bubble wrap and polystyrene chips. It was accepted and replaced under warranty - and was delivered in an enclosure and box which I kept for the next one.

Thanks for the replies guys, but I wussed out - searched for 'hard drive rma' on a certain auction site and found a guy selling the required foam-padded boxes for £2.50 each. Eliminates the chance of them kicking up any fuss, plus I would have had to use about two quids' worth of bubble wrap anyway. Only a one-off I guess... will certainly be retaining the box when replacement arrives, didn't realise they would be so pedantic.

lol, usually get my desktop ones back in a clamshell with good box. The last few times i had laptop ones returned they came in a box with slots for the drives, i think 6 slots, even on single returns.
