Basically I park my car over the road from my house in a hedge section between two houses. One of my housemates has just came to my room and said the guy over the road wants you to move your car forward as he cant reverse into his drive!!

Now the whole road is drop kerbed so im not sure if that makes any differance to weather im ok to park there but heres a quick photoshop ive made to show what a tool this guy is.

Bare in mind that like in the image below there are no cars on my side of the road out or outside our drive and theres a good 2 feet infront and behind mine of hedge.

Have a gander...

I would imagine he is just ****ed at you parking there, and is trying to inconvenience you.

Cant you park outside your own house?

Two of my housemate have cars so its just lucky dip who gets the drive :)

Today wasnt me :p

Ye basically it looks like ive made it a tiny bit difficult for him to reverse in so hes just peeved. Im just looking out my window (out towards my car) and hes got a whole road and a dropped kerb path to reverse up! How much space does he need?!?

Show him your tax disc, inform him there's no double yellow lines where you're parked, tell him to buy "Parking for Dummies" if that fails you're dealing with an imbecile.

Go and say hello to him, hand him a BSM brochure and politely say 'I thought you might find this useful, mate. These people could really help you'.

You're not blocking his drive, so no you don't need to move your car :).

That said, your house has a driveway... could you not park on it? Failing that could you not park outside your house rather than someone elses?

Read above ;)

And no I cant park outside my drive as theres that gay bush thing and its abit close to the round about and as you can see from the image a small fence between our house and next door so not an option

Can see why he'd be annoyed, he ends up with your car outside his house pretty much just because your house has too many cars for the drive.

Legally speaking of course he has not a leg to stand on, but that doesnt mean you cant sympathise with him, especially as it doesnt seem the sort of estate where cars parked on the road is a normal thing.

I can understand it can be annoying as back im my parents home we have a brick wall section (inbetween our parents drive and path bit) and when someone else parks there its abit cheeky but again, they have as much right to park there as we do so just gotta keep it shut.

He can clearly park his car easily so its just the change of having someone there hes not happy about. He'll get over it.

Except it isn't really outside the moaner's house at all. And there's a hedge blocking it anyway.

I can understand where he is coming from as it is not allowed to park on areas of pavement that have been lowered for use as a driveway or to enable wheelchair users and powered mobility vehicles gain access.

As for parking on the pavement (as you are) this is not an offence unless your parking forces someone to walk on the road and only the person that you are forcing onto the can make a complaint. If, however, the boys in blue see you driving off the pavement you can be charged with driving on the pavement. Strange but true.

That said I think he is just a bit miffed at what he probably and possibly wrongly thinks as "that lot across the road with their 3 cars. Students !" :).

Have a chat with him and see if you can come to an understanding. Best way really.

PS The parking law I've mentioned relates to Scotland but I'm sure they will be similar "daann saatth" :)

just move it, wait for him to park and then move it back, lifes too short.

plus he might burn your house down or summat

In all seriousness, issues over parking can quickly cause tension between neighbours and it's just not worth it in the long run. Go and move your car with good grace and after doing so, just give him a smile and tell him to give you a shout if it's ever in the way.

Keep parking there, and I'd lay money on him soon getting tired of keep asking you to move just to make a point and he'll end up just living with it.
