The drives support 6Gbp/s and are slightly revised offering performance gains here and there. With the current price difference it is probably worth still getting the WD20EARS.

the past week I have been researching 2tb drives ... kept going back and forth with a few of them.
Here is what I came up with ...
- WD earx - ya its the 6gb version although rwp(real world performance) really adds no speed to it compared to the ears. The green models seem to have issues with the stopping and starting of the heads causing problems with them wearing out. (can run some program to stop this but then again ...)
- Hitachi 7200 RPM can be had for just a bit more then the 5900 rpm drives. Seem pretty good actually; but I have read too many failures on other sites; so not sure I want to go with them.
- atm I am leaning myself toward the seagate green barracuda drives; have seen some tests suggesting these are the fastest 5400 drives (they run 5900). Only negative thing I saw they had a bit of a powerdraw upon startup.
Ive probably checked out all the reviews on the above drives (didnt look into the samsung much; they didnt seem that great in the cross manufacture reviews that I saw).
Id really like a 3tb - but still running win xp along with win 7 and using an older mb so they seem to be out.
Ill most likely get 2 2tb seagates unless I decide otherwise.
I got 2x 2TB WD20EARX for my NAS, I already got an SSD for my system drive so these will do nicely. Will probably get 2 more at a later date to fully populate the NAS
