Are you materialistic?

That is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard.

Own nothing = happiness?

Really? I thought it was self-explanatory.

Who are the people most likely to have extra alarms, panic rooms, etc, fitted to their houses? The people with the most material wealth inside or the people with the least?

Which cars owners are going to be afraid to park their cars anywhere outside of a securely locked garage: the Ford Fiesta owner or the Porsche 911 owner? (I'm not a car buff, could probably have gone for something more expensive than a 911 :p)

Are you more likely to take out an extended warranty on a £300 laptop or a £1500 laptop?

Would you insure a cheap £20 mp3 player against theft? Would you insure your £600 iPhone against theft?

No and I am becoming increasingly tired of people sounding like they're auditioning for a role in a Alan Bennet sketch.

I am definitely one of those people who wouldn't mind living in some wilderness somewhere having to fend for themselves.

I'm talking about the being away from the consumerism of daily life, I'm not actually trained to live in the wilderness.

I'm sure after a week you will be fed up.

Not overly, for the most part I'm very frugal, against wastage and unnecessary expenditure. But certainly in many other respects I am materialistic.

I really couldn't care less for money - I only earn it because I have to. If I was given a choice between a Bugatti Veyron and a restored MGB I'd take the MGB (but only if it had chrome bumpers and spoke wheels, of course!) :D Also, the people I've met in life that really want money seem to be those that are most distasteful.

Anyone that makes a lot of money through creativity and honesty is a good man, and one to be held as a paragon - but all too often a sad degree of exploitation of others is what brings wealth to the ambitious.

Nope. I don't see a problem with owning some nice things, however the world seems to be obbesed with 'celebrity' lifestyles and trying to emulate them.

I know people who don't have much and are very happy and I know people who have lots of shiny things and are not.

The worst kind of people IMHO are those who buy things only to rub them in other peoples throats. Stay classy.
