Another US gun rampage (in Ohio)

If you don't need a gun, I don't really see why you should have one.

Because you enjoy shooting? Do you only own and do things that you need to own and do? I certainly don't need a bow, but I enjoy archery hence I own one.

A lot of OCUK are very narrow minded you should know that :p

because not all of them can get hold of guns, where as its much easier to get them in america, im not saying were better than them, tbh i think this country is going to hell in a handbasket the way its going, but thats a different subject.

Guns are not "banned" in the UK either, we just have tighter laws on ownership

Easily concealable guns are. Hand guns are completely banned. Only the police and military can posses them.

Edit: Not that I necessarily agreee with the ban on hand guns, it was simply a knee jerk reaction to ban them...

ok, so your view is something like: ''everyone is an idiot and everything is rubbish''?

If I see someone with a gun, I know that that person could kill me from a distance and I wouldn't have a cat in hells chance to do anything about it.

It made me uneasy when I saw people wearing pistol holsters in the states, and I do not want that over here on home soil.

I appreciate what you are saying, but a gun is hardly a guitar, it's a device designed to kill and it does it pretty damn well. If people want to shoot why can't they do it at a shooting range that is licensed to shoot guns and own them? I don't really see the need for personal ownership.

If people are using it responsibly as a hobby then I'm certainly less judgemental, I just don't really see the point or the necessity in an average joe family having a gun in the cupboard or on themselves just 'because'.

I don't think that anyone has argued in favour of allowing more freedom for gun owners in the UK. Only that the ''American problem'' is not so easy to solve as simply making guns illegal there now.

That's what people do, they either shoot at a range or hunt. Why the need for personal ownership? People want different guns, different calibers, different set ups.

I'd like to see semi-auto rifles become legal again in the UK.

Can you imagine the chaos that could have happened if just one of the tottenham was using a firearm instead of a club?

I am thankful for our strict gun laws.

It most areas of the UK one is not far from civilisation and the local police force.

In many areas of American homes can be very far away from help, should it be needed. I would find it very hard to take protect away from those people and at the same time tell them that I was doing them a favour.
