Another US gun rampage (in Ohio)

I appreciate what you are saying, but a gun is hardly a guitar, it's a device designed to kill and it does it pretty damn well. If people want to shoot why can't they do it at a shooting range that is licensed to shoot guns and own them? I don't really see the need for personal ownership.

If people are using it responsibly as a hobby then I'm certainly less judgemental, I just don't really see the point or the necessity in an average joe family having a gun in the cupboard or on themselves just 'because'.

If someone feels need the need to kill people on some rampage it isn't just restricted to guns though is it? It is very easy if someone is not capable of obtaining a gun to make bombs through the use of fertilisers, petrol etc, as well as many other every day items. But if it was such an issue in the U.S there wouldnt be only 28% as was recorded in 2008 that are against a total ban of guns if it was happening on regular occurrence i'm sure more would be done to tighten gun laws.

google for veronica gomez.......then turn your adult filter off and see some nice boobies on her

I am currently visiting my father in Latvia. As much I as should like to view said adult images I shall not risk being caught viewing porn on dads PC at the age of 25.

I appreciate what you are saying, but I believe that it is probably much easier to spontaneously kill someone intentionally with a gun or by accident more so than with any other object.

The thing is with the likes of america and us is that it is far more ingrained in to their culture which is probably one of the major reason why laws have yet to be restricted and if they do it will take a long time to do as the likes of texas and many other similar states if restrictions were put in place there would be uproar its been a part of their life for generations.

Yet if compared to New York where i'm sure there aren't anywhere near as many gun owners because the regulations are different and with it being a multi cultural society and city its not exactly the kind of place that warrants anyone to have a gun.

I refer you to my previous post regards a bow... :D

If people want to shoot why can't they do it at a shooting range that is licensed to shoot guns and own them? I don't really see the need for personal ownership.

For much the same reasons as I own my own bow(s) rather than use the club equipment. Personal ownership allows for greater care and personalisation of the equipment. Pretty much all serious sportsmen own their own equipment after all. Also if you force all firearms to be held in one place (the club) you are effectively making it easier for criminals to acquire weapons.

If people are using it responsibly as a hobby then I'm certainly less judgemental, I just don't really see the point or the necessity in an average joe family having a gun in the cupboard or on themselves just 'because'.

Is that however a good reason to deny them the ability to? People tend to do many things I see as pointless, doesn't mean i would want to stop them doing it.

Dolph will be along soon to say that if they didnt have guns they'd have done it with a cucumber or a knife or something.

Banning guns does indeed make it less likely people will be shot.

However, with enough money and knowledge a determined individual will create any weapon they desire from scratch if they have to.

It's far too late to be banning guns in the USA, too many in circulation.

This is pretty much what I fear. I have a sneaking suspision that if they were banned now very few people would turn their guns in and the wrong people would be left armed to the teeth.

Yeah just like banning guns here in the UK completely eradicated gun crime.

yes I hear about shooting all the time in the UK..... oh... hang on I don't...... its very rare....

gun ban = good, its easy to shoot someone death it only takes a second, its a dam sight harder to stab someone to death unless you get lucky

Gun crime in the UK was rare before the '97 gun ban...

And since 97 injuries from firearms have more than doubled.

Some facts to back up your ''my opinions = good'' would be just lovely.

and people wonder why americans are idiots, heres a clue...ban guns, would make the country a lot better

But they can't ban guns in the US as it would violate the second amendment of the constitution:

"the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Well that is not strictly true. Whilst a complete ban would be unconstitutional it is possible to ban certain types of 'arms' as in fact has already been done.

Additionally, it seems worth noting that there is some debate about the actual meaning of the second ammendment and it is, although this is not an easy option, possile to make changes to the existant constitution.
