would have been no riots if the Policeman had been killed and the dude had been fine! People just want an excuse to start trouble now, and I hear all these idiots on TV talking about how the area offers nothing for the kids and thats what caused it, get real.

Society has this way of taking things and giving nothing back, where I live all the crap areas are those where people live off the state for free. Is it so weird that those of us who have to pay our way look after what we have and where we live.

Far too many people think they have a right to this, that and the other, its time this country got real!

Well said :)

Does anyone know what the deal is with cash machines? I'd assume the part that holds the cash is well reinforced? Does it have any security measures like marking the notes if it gets tampered with?

From Asim's photos, that picture of Curry's, just gotta say, how gutted must the looters have left smashing those windows to have been met with a wall behind the window lol :D

"Oh my dayz, oh my dayz Bruv! They've dun bricked it up to stop us, ya get me blud?!"

The West cannot take the blame for Africa's problems, one of the guys who works with me was born in South Africa and lived in Zimbabwe, they were not loaded but had black people working for them that did housework, the gaden and looked after the kids etc.

With this work the people got educated, fead and a roof over their heads.

He remembers that most of the time the men on days off just wanted to drink, the women were pushing out more and more babies and fighting all the time.

Now that Zimbabwe is back in control of the blacks and has been for a long time what have they achieved? most of the farms have been wrecked as they have no idea what to do, the people are starving and living in poverty, this has not happend in other countries the UK has pulled out from, so why is Africa so different?

All the leaders what to do is fight, buy weapons and line its pockets with money.

If it thinks its been tampered with in anyway it cover's the cahs in Ink that cant be washed off and it identifiyble to police.

I know, but I was specifically talking about the less well off ...

Caused by strikes, government taking the farms away, and other similar things thing ...

And yet, the farms were still doing "OK" in 99, until Mugabe starting taking more and more of them away from the people who ran them

I'd say the opposite is true for some of the time, and some of the countries.

When Britain was in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya etc, they were doing well, fairly wealthy nations. Yes, the black people there were disadvantages, but they had it a lot better than they do now.

Zimbabwe and S Africa had great farming etc.

Obviously there are also some very very negative things introduced by the west, look at blood diamonds, slavery etc.

You guys are simply astounding. Black people in Africa had it better than they do now, when they were 3rd rate civilians? I don't think so.

What we are seeing in Africa is a direct consequence of foreigners (e.g. us) invading, conquering, then withdrawing without settling issues.

The same is/has happening/happened in the middle east.

But no, it's their fault that we ruined their countries, took their resources, enslaved their people and then just moved out when things got hard, eh?

Yeah how many JD Sports and phone shops do you think will be employing private security tonight? :)

Wouldn't surprise me at all. :)

That's got me thinking, if this mob behaviours continues I can see private security firms being employed by the likes of Currys if the police prove to be ineffective...maybe time to buy shares in one...

haha

Wouldn't look at the state of the market just now to be honest. ;)

LOL private security would be even worse than the police. Only reason to employ them is so you can have an on-site presence 24x7. All they can really do is phone the police, if someone started throwing bricks at the property they're supposed to be protecting, and a private security guard tackled them, chances are the guard would get nicked for any one of assault/false imprisonment/kidnapping* - therefore they get told to do nothing.

*in the case that they attempted a citizen's arrest, and got the procedure slightly wrong.

Stop me if I'm wrong but I beleive Over Clocker is himself an African. Therefore perhaps he has more knowledge of the continent than we do?

He clearly hasn't if he thinks native African farmers were better off before native Africans actually owned the farms tbh.

No, not really well said at all, just affirms your small minded way of thinking.

Not at all. When I grew up, I made my own choices, I didn't turn to crime when I was bored, I made things to do.

I'm Indian, but born here, I've suffered some racism in my life, but I didn't feel anyone owed me anything, like these people think. I made my own successes.

And for those saying these poor kids have grown up in one parent families, with absent dads etc:

1) That kind of re-affirms there is something endemically wrong with that culture, their culture, that breeds life where fathers don't really care much.

2) A very good friend of mine grew up on a council estate in Portsmouth, quite a rough one, with no dad, just his mum. He's turned out fine, got into uni etc, and is now a Police Officer ;)

I see people all the time who think they don't need to do anything to et a job, succeed in life, they truly feel that the state will give them a life of luxury.

The state is not there to provide "luxury", it is there to provide a basic living.
If you want to have more then you need to better yourself (the state does provide some free training), or work harder/more.

Exactly, with the cuts these individuals definition of 'basic' now needs to be redefined, which is where the anger is coming from.

Again, I will reiterate, I do not agree or condone these acts but you do need to try & understand the sociology & psychology behind it otherwise you will just end up hating these individuals & basing your incorrect belief systems on class, race &/or creed as so many people are doing on this forum.
