Riots in Tottenham, London! (NO RACIST COMMENTS)

Is this purely thugs looking for an excuse, or is it in part due to our economic times? Lack of education, povety? Are we becoming a 2 class system, e.g, Rich and Poor?

I think this has been coming for a long time, it'd be foolish to ignore the link between income inequality and violent crime. Take that and add the coalition spending cuts which of course are going to hit the poorest sections of society the hardest and a criminal justice system that hasn't been fit for purpose for a long time and the result is what we've seen today.

I doubt most of those in Mark Stone's video were old enough to gamble.. they are mostly kids.

That's the worst part about this.

What the **** are their parents doing?

Thousands upon thousands of teenage children are smashing the hell out of the capital city of England and they know their kids are out there and they aren't doing anything about it?

The response from the government/police has been so half hearted, one could almost suspect they have an agenda in all of this.

This has gone far far to far, people looting and arsoning should be shot on sight now.

Why is the scum quotient socio-economic communities experience a much higher average in London? Merely it's scale alone? Still doesn't really answer why, does it? I mean this isn't happening on a small scale elsewhere, this could be said to be unique.

Oh yes, blame Labour... I should have pre-empted that. Well no, you can't blame Labour you can blame UK plc.

Because those socio-economic groups contain a greater proportion of stupid, lazy people prone to jealousy and with an over-inflated sense of entitlement?

Cut the communities involved off from state funding, that should allow the majority in them (who are good, law abiding people) to actually have reason to pressure the scum into being productive, useful members of society.

I'm at a loss of what to say anymore :(

We've reached a point where the police can't do their jobs anymore without fear of being accused of barbaric acts towards members of the public which usually ends their careers and causes a media frenzy.

The only people responsible are the scum rioting, anything else is just an excuse put forward by apologists.

Refusal to acknowledge contributing pressure points isn't going to help. Authoritarianism isn't the long term answer, social problems lead to unrest.

I'm not offering apologies for people at all, there has to be a reason for this behavour however. This is what the right do not want to discuss, both the conservative right and the extreme right which would appear to be singing in unison here tonight.

I know your outlook is the individual, but sometimes you need to look at how they act together.

And at present the best thing offered so far is 'They are Black', or 'It's London'.

Not good enough I'm afraid.

Guess we are not going to get any calls from our Croydon customers tomorrow complaining their broadband ain't working :( can't believe what's going on tbh.

There's some real crap going around on twitter at the moment Re: Birmingham.

There's been no fires, anywhere.
And no there's been no attack on the children's hospital.
No the police station hasn't been taken over.
And no - the railway line hasn't been looted lol

They are simply not just "kids" though are they?
