You've got to concede though that when a person is raised in a society (an immediate micro society) of crime, due to external factors such as those mentioned in this thread - a leap to criminality on this scale, and under these circumstances isn't exactly a great one.

And I would imagine if everyone around you is doing it also, it would be hard to get out and there would be consequences for you and your family.

It's quite obvious that people are affected by their circumstances, their experiences and their stimuli - if it's largely geared towards criminality, violence, or "less educated behaviour", then they're going to lean towards that kind of living.

People rarely just go out and cause crime for the hell of it, there usually lots of factors, including upbringing, education and their social status.

Woman on the phone hasn't seen a copper in the area for over an hour either...

Really really ****es me off when i see on the news people saying "OMG HAVEN'T SEEN A COPPER IN HOURS - JUST WHAT ARE THEY DOING!?". Let's put it this way, i'm sure they're not sitting on their arses watching Countdown.

Chances are they getting bricks and petrol bombs thrown at them a couple of miles away.

You've got to question why they would be allowed to grow up in such an environment?
Most crime ridden areas are like this because the general public would feed the police information, Police being held back by bureaucrats that don't want to upset people and CPS letting down the police by either not punishing offenders or not doing great enough punishment,

It isn't, but it is still a choice, they are not victims. They still choose the path of criminality.
