Riots in Tottenham, London! (NO RACIST COMMENTS)

If they don’t nip this very fast I can see it escalating out of control (well more out of control). Soon we will see the second tier ***** coming out of the woodwork. The ones that are will be thinking “if they can get new TV’s why cant I?”.

The issue is there’s they will move out of the commercial areas soon as it becomes more decimated and move into residential areas, then we have real problems. A house to a robber (which is what they are) is just a shop with a different door.

Let’s face facts, we might want an extreme response to the behaviour, but we cant shoot them its counter productive.

It needs a temp curfew, if your on the streets after X o clock, expect to be treated as a robber. I personally would then issue vast quantities of zip ties to the police, just tie the ******* up en-masse and leave them on the ground over looked by the armed forces, hose them down whilst they are down there if it pacifies them. Move on and rinse repeat.

Parliament needs to suspend the paperwork involved in these arrests and fast track them to court (night court if necessary). All of this is of course useless if the judge’s wont hand down harsh sentences. Not enough room in the prisons? Lift anchor on the several prison ships they have dotted about that are deemed inappropriate for habitation, who cares.

Anyone else also bored of seeing people on the news claiming its because the youths are annoyed with a society that doesn't care about them?

Do they honestly think anyone cares now?

Why is everyone in here certainly a public order expert who absolutely knows better than the authorities because of the view they had from the Sky News chopper in the comfort of the living room?

Because people have views and they express them. We had the same with neighbours last night. In a situation like this where many people’s lives have been affected I suspect most of the country have become experts on dealing with the situation.

Nobody claims to be an expert here do they? Just hundreds of people expressing their opinion on the events.

What would you do?

Watching Teresa May's ineffectual and barely articulate performance on BBC this morning, I think Cameron's first action this morning should be to sack her ass and appoint a Home secretary with a bit of backbone.

Elsewhere I've read the police are trying to blame GTA for inspiring the "yoof". Utter nonsense. The only riot I'm aware of was right at the end of SA and that represented about 0.3% of the entire story. You might as well ban The Crow (movie) because this owed more to Devil's Night than anything else.

Just read the thread?

'The police are useless, they need to be doing XYZ'
'We need the army, to do ABC'

etc etc.

I think is only human to try to understand and offer solutions. I do agree many are surreal, and this is a very difficult situation to tackle for the police. I do hope it all quiets down today.

My only comments there is that Ken Livingston and Theresa May have revealed themselves as total useless politicians in this crisis.

If you are so bored them switch off the TV. I'm sure you can find another topic to bore people with.

All they've made is 450 arrests. I doubt that's even an eighth of the amount of criminals involved since saturday. Somehow, Theresa May thinks that's satisfactory. Had they used more force, they could have nailed many many more.

Doesnt take a genius to figure out what they have been doing isn't working does it

Just woke up and put the news on like normal. I cannot believe we have had another night of this. What is happening to this country, Seriously this is terrible.

Looking at the fires on tv now. Good god man. words fail me.

who is to say they wont damage all the work being built for the Olympics. Or get right into the center.

I honestly don't know - but thats because I am a computer geek not a trained police officer, police commander or a government minister.

I certainly wouldnt be criticising the actions of people whose jobs and challenges I couldnt even begin to understand.

I'm referring only to the people being openly critical of the people on the ground, the people risking injury to try and do what they can to sort this mess.

This is exactly my point. You are hugely trivialising what it must be like to police this. Whilst it 'isnt working' it may well be that none of the other solutions would work either and they are currently using the best solutions they have available. Who knows?

In the real world we can't send the Challenger II's in and blow everyone up.

Everyone involved with policing this deserves our respect not our criticism.

Do you know why this is happening? Its because the People want Labour back. This NEVER happened when they were in charge.

I seem to have woken up to complete anarchy, the worlds gone mad, I did wonder what was going on last night as I heard the helicopter circling overhead again.

This is Bristols third riot this year, nowhere near on the same scale as London mind you

I'm sorry but after witnessing it first hand and seeing my local area getting torn apart I can't help but to think that there isn't going to be any accountability for all of this. Juvi record if they're unlucky enough to get caught perhaps. I have to agree with Ken Livingston - water canons and rubber bullets - you do bad you get punished. Simples.
