Absolutely shocking stuff and the police seem mostly powerless.

Amazing that the people rioting have been brought up in England but not as English Its like they would prefer to live in some kind of African style slum.

I think the time to help the minority to "integrate" is passed. They need to justify why so many blacks are kicking off.

Radio 4 speculate the use of water cannons will be considered in the COBRA meeting. Army is an option but the PM has been quoted as saying such action would be 'premature'.
Sat outside Starbucks in Paddington at the mo, we've been riot free thankfully. Feeling bad for all those trapped in this mess.
It's hard to see a way out at the moment. Just can't figure out the mentality of people hell bent on destroying their own communities. Just unbelievable.

I wonder if the police have considered ordering mobile phone companies to disable the data networks on mobile masts, as most people seem to be communicating in such a fashion then it could be quite effective. If a curfew is put in place you could even consider disabling the networks entirely, it would potentially limit the ability for people to contact the emergency services but desperate times call for desperate measures.

I spoke to my sister last night who has a friend who works as a paramedic. last night she was on shift in Hackney, and they were issued with Kevlar stab vests and told not to go anywhere without them. How dispicable that paramedics and fire crews are the target of these yobs.

If there was a point to the riots, or a reason for them, they would be easier to understand. But there isn't. It's just mindless violence for the sake of it. It's actually quite saddening.
