To be fair to DC, what did you want him to do ? Suit up and go postal on the streets later. They have nearly tripled the police presence on the streets. I expect more to come from them him through out today / tommorow though.

I would have liked him to hear him state his unequivocal support for the Police.

Big issue will be if Violence sparks up at the other areas of the UK - i'm surprised we had nothing in Middlesbrough since it is meant to be the worst town in Europe.

To be fair, you wouldn't really notice if people trashed Middlesborough ;)

I ask you AGAIN, how will water cannon and rubber bullets stop wide spread, non centralised, rioting? Water cannon is used to disperse crowds from one area and stop them advancing. The rioters aren't advancing on a centralised position and therefore none of this will help. There isn't a line of rioters facing off against the police.

You're wasting your time and wearing out your keyboard pointlessly. Sadly, the people who understand already agree with you and the rest will never change the way they think about it. Force fixes problems, yo.

What is with that strange leaflet about not getting caught. Does that hint to it being more organised than we think?

Seems like an appropriate response from the PM.

Indeed, perhaps not as robust as some would like, but an increase in number of officers from 6000 to 16000 is huge, and if they've been given the all clear for a 'robust' response (as we were starting to see last night anyway), then they might well manage to bring this under control.

The only question I have is how, when we have more officers than ever in the Met following 13 years of increases, why we have less frontline officers than ever before...

I would have liked to have heard him say

"LOL, screw this, I'm getting the hell out of here" as a rope ladder dangled from a helicopter came into view and he disappears off into the distance cackling madly.

Clapham cleaning up! Nice to see.

This is like that movie 300, even if there are more officers this time around it doesnt mean that they will still win.

So now there will be 16000 Policemen standing and letting idiots throw bricks at them?
Where's the deterrent? Different policy is needed, not just more numbers.

You need to understand the police tactics before making statements like that. You've seen the police standing by because of the numbers. When outnumbered they are extremely limited, Burnsy explained this earlier.

As for riots flaring up in other cities, they will still have their own forces. London is the key, the other riots are just copycats.

^This.

More ASBO's the thugs can boast about to their mates and a £20 fine. That's Cameron's tough policy.

****** hell. Give the man a chance. What is wrong with all you people who let deep-seated hatreds of a political faction get in the way of any sort of reason. He said after the rioting is over they're going to come down hard on them. Why not see what they have in store before mouthing off?
