Yes, I do. Rubber bullets won't help this. You haven't explained how it will. I've demonstrated various times in this thread that this won't help.

Your second sentence demonstrates that you clearly don't appreciate how you deal with public order issues such as this. I'm quite happy to have a discussion about this topic but I'd hope the other person has a bit of common sense. Thankfully, other people in this thread that I have discussed with it seem to have had this and appreciate and agree with my points when they have a think about it.

You can keep arguing against it but people are angry and want these scumbags to suffer.

Rubber bullets are definitely a bit over the top but I'd very much like to see them used even if it's just to cause these morons some suffering.

I think the extra police tonight will help matters, if not then more serious measures will need to be taken in the form of rubber bullets (as mainly a deterrent) and water cannons, etc.

Actually Im 24 , but I think generally the police are power trippy bunch of Please star out fully. Von. and they need to be sorted , anyways that just my views.

You are an idiot. Go away.

Oh dear, I am from Russia, police here in England are angels, they are so polite and nice. God bless British police, you have no idea how good you got it here if you think they're power trippy.

Once again, stupidity is the root of all evil as it seems.

How abou the fact that these "Gangs" or whatever you want to call them ARE NOT scared of the police at all.

Oh noes, the police are walking towards us with sticks.

This wont stop intill they are to scared to carry on. Giving them pain when they get close WILL keep them back.

You seem a pretty big smart ***. Open your eyes.

i wonder if it will get to the stage where we see 2 sets of people out on the street
the rioters and poeple fighting off the rioters ( public )

Umm you do, they ordered a 1000 of them thrugh the PSNI back orders last summer.

They do help, in NI this has been shown when used to put back lines and install fear, you dont have to shoot hundresd of them..one or two is enough to make them think twice.

*sigh*

And where are these lines? This isn't NI, this isn't Genoa. This is totally different and crowd control measures such as plastic bullets and water cannon won't help here.
Listen to me. Water cannon and plastic bullets are used to repel people backwards from an asset. They are used to provide the police with room and increase the distance between people and the police.
This is not happening in London. There isn't a stand off between police and rioters. The rioters are roaming the streets doing as they please. They aren't standing up to the police or going to attack one building (as seen in the Student protests).
1 water cannon (as let's be honest, we're not going to get many more than that from NI (though I doubt we'll ever get 1)) is not going to stop this. Having a few officers in Croydon with plastic bullet guns isn't going to stop shops being looted in Tottenham.
I don't understand why you think there is a stand off between police and rioters.

Von Small - Do you agree with me?

Keep posting images of this and the nice people giving the police the tea and saving the pets from the pet store.

They are making me feel better. :)

The current police force is a Labour police force, decimated in numbers of "real police", less training, less power and Labour has allowed this culture of blame and PC rubbish to take over in the past decade leaving the police completely unable to do their job.

Likewise the police have been having this corruption issue which has led to senior people leaving their jobs, things that all happened under Labour in the past decade. ITs Labour that taught kids they should have things for free, not have to work, and scared our police force into being bystanders.

In fairness, they've done great, they are having bricks thrown at their heads, people throwing bottles and various other things at them and despite very small numbers in numerous locations have done a fantastic job. What they need is overwhelming force, and they haven't had that.

Cameron hasn't been fantastic, but he shouldn't need to, the PM shouldn't have to hold the police chief's hand and tell him to call up every reserve, everyone on leave, everyone everywhere and get them into work. Cameron appoints a police chief, who should have been doing that, if the chief isn't there(he resigned, did he leave yet, I have no idea whats going on there tbh), the next most senior police chief should have been making that call.

Everyones scared to do everything, if the police chief authorised armoured vehicles to be used to scare people off, and someone gets run over, the media, the public, will crucify him. These days everyone passes the buck upwards while everything around them is burning.

Its pathetic that Cameron should be sorting this out, the police should have got their **** together on their own, thats their damned job, they are just too scared to do it.

I think this one of the few instances when the vast majority of the public/press etc wouldn't care if the police got heavy handed.

It's not like this is valid protesting with a clear point (ie student protests/riots) where being heavy handed attracts criticism, it's just rioting and looting plain and simple - ruining peoples lives and torching busineses for the sake of some Nike trainers. I believe a lot of people think that these scum deserve what's coming to them.

I'm going to re-post this because it's rare to see someone talking sense.

If all these young people are rioting because we don't respect them, and they'll respect us when we respect them...

?????

No need for the personal insult.

They aren't scared of the police because the police have been powerless. Arming them with plastic bullets and water cannon isn't going to give them power. It's going to **** the rioters off more and change the attention of the rioters from the shops and trainers being stolen and move it onto the policemen and women out trying to keep the public safe.

We need boots on the ground, and that is what they are doing.

The rioters aren't even getting close to the police, this isn't a stand off. I'm not sure how many times I can say this.
