Riots in Tottenham, London! (NO RACIST COMMENTS)

I'm so confused by the Governments reaction to this. Bring out the bloody army! They simply won't have enough feet on the ground to stop these scumbags.

This will only stop if the public take arms and bash the little idiots, :(

Listen to me. Water cannon and plastic bullets are used to repel people backwards from an asset. They are used to provide the police with room and increase the distance between people and the police.
This is not happening in London. There isn't a stand off between police and rioters. The rioters are roaming the streets doing as they please. They aren't standing up to the police or going to attack one building (as seen in the Student protests).
1 water cannon (as let's be honest, we're not going to get many more than that from NI (though I doubt we'll ever get 1)) is not going to stop this. Having a few officers in Croydon with plastic bullet guns isn't going to stop shops being looted in Tottenham.

I dont think you have a clue how these things are used.
Outnumbered police carry them at all time in NI the LR's or cars, they can dispell a small group from advancing, you dot HAVE to have a riot line, you arnt firing LOTS of them, you fire one or two down the street or if they are closer fire them at the ground and let them bounce up, they are deterrent, they are VERY VERY painful things to be hit buy. A water cannons effect is a lot of being a bit mad when it screams down the road. they work when things get out of hand, its why they exist, the water cannons have proved HUGLY successful in NI to dispel small and large groups who have been running street to street.
 
Any reports of the likelihood of more rioting/looting tonight given the update on the 16k police presence in London?

What has the social feeds been saying?
