Hatred towards police?

Nothing more wrong with possessing cannabis than alcohol which I'm sure you do along with most other people. It's victimless in any case and wrong for then police to infringe on others liberties for it, not to mention hypocritical.

The police are there to serve and protect, not to be the governments army against the people, big difference.

One is actually illegal while the other is not. Stop splitting hairs. The police are there to also ensure that the law is upheld, currently the law is not being upheld. The country is in chaos.

I see these people talking about how the police are there to protect and serve, and I'm sorry, I've yet to see anything anywhere in this country, that says that is their role. The role of the police, is to enforce the law, plain and simple. Investigative divisions are there to investigate, scientific divisions to do the science bit, but your average bobby on the beat, is not there to serve, he is there to enforce.

Now whether that enforcement is simply patrolling, or by looking upon every person he meets as a potential criminal, is neither here nor there, I deal with officers on a daily basis and I never have a problem with them, I treat them with professional courtesy and they do likewise.

We all know the types of people that attract the most attention from police officers, and yes, black teenagers get a lot of undue attention, but at the same time, a fair proportion of it is justified, its not racist, it is pure statistics, just as I am sure that it is fair to say that a large proportion of the burberry clad, elizabeth duke bejewelled trailer trash, also have something to hide.

In a time when it has become necessary, for ambulance crews and fire crews, to be issued stab proof vests, for fire engines to have cctv systems so that they can try and identify people that interfere with the appliances, I for one do not blame the police for being less approachable than they once were.

Do I respect them, yes, do I respect the work they do, yes, do I think that they are being tied up by liberal politicians, hell yes.

And if I were allowed, I would be right there alongside them, giving my support in these times of unsettlement.

+1

someone who actually understands.

One is actually illegal while the other is not.

Irrelevant. What the police are doing is unethical, ergo it's perfectly understandable that people hate them and justifiable in all honesty. Ethics before law, is the stance that any good citizen takes.

what ????

how is the fact that getting hassled by the cops for having possession of an illegal substance i.e breaking the law irrelevant ?

You seriously make no sense.

People like you are why this country fails tbh

If you don't have it and have never touched it wouldn't you get irate if you were stopped and searched say on the way to an urgent meeting or emergency just because you "looked like you may have it in your possesion/looked dodgy"?

If you knew me IRL you would understand what i am about to say.

This happens to me on a regular basis because of where I live and what I look like. I get regularly pulled over for routine checks while driving to work, and usually stopped on an almost monthly basis if not more frequently for random stop and search on the streets.

As I have done nothing wrong I don't have to worry about anything. At the end of the day I know the police are doing it for a reason and that reason is to ensure safer neighbourhoods, so why am I going to get irate at that ?

They're tarring you with the same brush as the rest of these ****s do you really want people to see you in such a light regardless of the fact that you aren't one of these ****s It's insulting IMHO!

but they aren't are they, they are simply doing their jobs. Its attitudes like the one that you have shown that result in the mindless looting and pillaging of the city. Seriously its not personal its business they are doing their jobs, why can't most of your dross filled morons on here accept that. They aren't going out of their way to be fascist (there are a few exceptions of course), they are simply doing their jobs. The sooner most of the moronic population understand that the sooner we will stop having scenes of ***** smashing up cities for which we as tax payers will end up paying

It's a common held belief amongs some communities that the police are against the community and not a part of it. You are more likely to be stop and searched if you are black for instance, and this disproportionality seems to continue throughout the justice system to varying degrees, from arrest and prosecution to prison. Failing to engage, listening and displaying itself acting on behalf of the community of the community they serve. Probably most common would be failure to align to the concerns and priorities of the community.

The relationship between the community and police is vital, yet instances like the shooting show just how fragile that is.

so you think ehtics is a good excuse for the wanton acts of violence and criminality displayed over the last 3 days ?

Where on earth did I say that?

I said it was understandable that people hated the police when they act in such an unethical manner.

This sort of straw man argument is why, if this continues, I'm going to leave OcUK to drown in it's own stupidity over the next few days.

To recognise issues is not to act as an apologist. Pointing to the riots as meaningless is to remove the opportunity to gain an understanding that could help prevent them in future.

People like Dolph and the right wing massive screaming about self choice, and anything beyond that scope as being "making excuses", is dulling down the subject for their own narrow aims.

My point exactly you should feel free to approach police instad of feeling scrutinised for your every move due to the actions of others!

You didn't say that of course, but here and now this is par for the course.

But this is the current right wing duality; you have tories screaming 'there is no narrative there is no society!'

And then, a bit further to the right than them, '******* blacks!!!!'.

And all the straw men argument in between.

Whilst the left wing go on about 'reintegrating them into society' and crap like that, after they've burnt down 4 shops and set fire to a few cars.

I have no problem approaching the police. But then again, I don't look dodgy.

Irrelevent prejudice. Nor is it really on the argumentative level either. It can be from the kid at school to the granny in her house, if the feeling is one of disengagement with the community it doesn't matter what your appearance is or how others prejudice you them for it.

Oh wait, isn't the standard reply to everything in here these days 'OMG BLACKS'?
