My girlfriend works in Salford (2nd day into her new job) and she has just been sent home as riots are apparently close to her office block. She can hear a lot of alarms and sirens in the distance from where she works (fairly close to Manchester city centre).

Eeeek.

Blackberry news
3.41pm: Computer hackers have defaced the official website of BlackBerry owner Research In Motion, in a retaliatory attack over the company's pledge to assist the police investigation into the London riots.

Our colleague Josh Halliday has more details:

The Inside BlackBerry blog was hacked into on Tuesday afternoon by a group calling themselves TeamPoison. In a statement posted on the BlackBerry website, the hackers said:

Dear RIM;

You Will _NOT_ assist the UK Police because if u do innocent members of the public who were at the wrong place at the wrong time and owned a blackberry will get charged for no reason at all, the Police are looking to arrest as many people as possible to save themselves from embarrassment ... if you do assist the police by giving them chat logs, gps locations, customer information & access to peoples BlackBerryMessengers you will regret it, we have access to your database which includes your employees information; e.g – Addresses, Names, Phone Numbers etc. – now if u assist the police, we _WILL_ make this information public and pass it onto rioters…

******* idiots!

That said, maybe a bit of strict religious upbringing is what these thugs need. If that's what it takes...

I wouldn't wish that on anyone.. even these idiots

Idiots are bad.

Idiots following a book is worse. :rolleyes:

This, so instead of extremely violent kids kicking off because they can, we end up with a load of religious christian-extremeists kicking off at other religions .. because they can

The reporter on sky is making me feel sick. Speaking to the young kids who obviously do not agree with what is going on and all she wants to ask is where they heard it from. Its like she is dying to hear someone to say FB or BBM in order to make some sly point.

OMG! The wa***rs! :mad:

Idiot god banger is idiot..
I never had 2 seconds for religion, christianity or otherwise, and i never went out smashing things up..

If you're looking for a switch that turns a human being functioning normally in society to a violent thug then you're going to be disappointed. However the point the woman raises is a good one - 30-40 years ago almost everyone went to Church where they received moral guidance in addition to what they receive from their parents.

Now, hardly anyone goes - so where do people get their moral guidance from now apart from their parents? And if their parents aren't doing their job properly what fills the moral vacuum?
