Riots in Tottenham, London! (NO RACIST COMMENTS)

Sadly the disgusting behaviour of youths robbing innocents is nothing new, it's been happening for years and years, it just doesn't get that much publicity any more.

They'll come at you and outnumber you, ask you to use your phone or for a light. If you're lucky they'll just demand your belongings, if you're unlucky they'll pull a knife on you, or one of them will hit you from behind and they'll kick you while you're down before taking anything of value off you by force.

This kind of thing has happened far too often over the years. I'm not shocked to see it any more. They don't get caught or punished for doing it.

The gentleman on the right is clearly a good citizen and is instructing a caucasian flasher to refrain from lewd behaviour, pull up his jeans and put his t-shirt back on. That's why the IC1 male has his identity obscured.

It's all in the interpretation, innit.

Do I really have to say it again?

At this point I don't think it even matters if water cannons and plastic rounds are efficient or not. So far all i've seen is Police standing by or being chased off. What I want to see and i'm sure a lot of people want to see is the Police fighting back.

What is this crap on Sky. The police don’t want to use rubber bullets as it might alienate communities. If they started using them people would come out on the streets and applaud.

Yea but they know if for example the breakdown of people hurt by them turns out as 90% black 10% other they'll get crucified by the oh so lovely bbc and the labour party. But you're right, personally and I doubt most people will shed any tears for any of these hooligans who gets hurt by them.

I know this will unfortunately sound racist, but this is purely an objective observation that I want to mention. Can someone from the it's-not-a-colour issue brigade tell me why for every 1 or 2 or 3 white looters and rioters that I can definitely see in pics or video clips, I can always see far more black looters and rioters visible, ie, it's always about 10:3 ratio. I don't see anything even remotely approaching a 50/50 split. So how does one explain that?

It's the part where you think that black people is a meaningful group. May as well comment on the hair colour, or shoe size of the rioters.

So police forces in continental Europe,US,Canada, etc have got it all wrong?

Also, water cannons can also be used to put out fires, and plastic rounds do hurt enough to make people run.
And your point of people being soaked to the bone in water, and then breaking into Debenhams, drying off, looting new clothes and continuing is dumb beyond belief.:D

But continue living in your cushie, leftie LaLa Land :D

Oh,so you're an authority on those measures now,are you?The forum authority?:D
You post your opinion based on leftie hand-wringing,I'll post mine based on experience.:)

What's your experience? And when was I a leftie?

The point is simple - This isn't a riot against an institution, a person, a building, a figurehead. Those sorts of riots centralise somewhere. We saw it in Greece, in Genoa, in the Student Riots, yadda yadda. In times like this water cannon, plastic rounds and tear gas can be a valuable tool because it prevents the crowd from getting too close to key assets that the police are protecting (be it a parliament building, a conference centre, etc).
This is not happening in London. The crowd isn't advancing on one central point. There is nothing to protect because there is not one thing under threat; everything is under threat.
These tools are useful in removing threats from an area. The vastness of these riots are something quite different and therefore water cannon, tear gas, plastic bullets wouldn't help in the grand scheme of things and would antagonise rioters.

You have failed to explain your view, you have failed to show me where I am wrong, you have just posted factually incorrect comments about my view and just nonsense.

If you have something to add to this discussion I'm happy to talk to you. If you want to try and score points and take cheap (and incorrect) shots at me then you can frankly go away.

Stop comparing one riot to another, it is wrong to do so. Listen to what the experts (whilst I've done plenty of research into this, I'm by no means an expert) are telling you.

What is your experience? Why is your view right? My view is thought out, and proven. Police officers and security experts agree with me.
