Hi, I have tried on a few helmets recently and the AGV S-4 seems to fit well. I know they are Sharp 5 star rated but what are they like quality wise any good? The other lid that fitted well was a Shoei Qwest, which is a lot more money seeing as the AGVs are on offer but are they worth the extra money in quality?

Also is it worth buying my helmet now before my training/tests as I assume I can't use my own helmet due to the comms gear etc...

No idea on either of those, but you will be able to use the comms gear for training no matter what you buy - it will fit.

I have an AGV S4 with the matt silver and black finish and it fits like a glove and seems pretty well put together. It is a relatively noisy helmet at high speeds, though this obviously isn't an issue if you are using ear plugs. Ventilation is good and the visor seals ok etc. The visor mounting system is a bit fiddly until you get used it...I can now remove and replace the visor in about 15 seconds flat, but it took quite a lot longer the first time I tried it.

About the only thing you might not like is that it has a buckle instead of a double D ring on the strap. Personally I preferred it to D rings as you could remove and replace it with gloved hands which I find almost impossible with D rings, but I know some people prefer the latter.

EDIT: Ignore me, I didn't notice you had specified the S4 SV which has double D rings and the sun visor.

Personally, I don't think I'd get an AVG again, as I've found them to very noisey considering the price you pay. However, it does fit really well and is well ventilated. I suppose it comes down to preference on what you consider noisey.

Same, for the reason you posted. My S4 is also so well ventilated that it'll still let in wind (and rain) even with its vents closed ;)

I can comment on the Qwest. It's the only helmet I've owned but not the only I've worn.

It's incredibly comfortable for me, hasn't leaked in the rain and is quite light too. There's no real wind noise other than what comes in from around your neck/under your chin. Though it does come with a chin curtain you can fit to help reduce this. I normally have headphones in anyway. Having said that it's only really noticable around 70/80mph which you'd probably want earplugs in for on a long commute.

Ventilation systems work very well too & super easy to remove the visor/pinlock.
