The last thing this situation needs is guns. :(

Yup. If the looters turn to guns things will get very nasty very quickly. The police will have to send in firearms units, and when that happens things will escalate rapidly and innocent people will get shot.

One positive effect i am seeing which i hope we do not lose is that these riots are now making communities come together and that we all must work together to stop this crap from happening again. Also seeing people of all races applauding the police is also a good sign, i hope everyone now realise that we must all now must work together. this is on thing which Cameron has tried to push but he has gone about it the wrong way, hopefully now we must all understand that we must not fight each other but must all work together to improve things...

I have to say, and I am seeing a general theme in that post, that I agree.

What I mean, is that a community working TOGETHER, regardless of race, creed, skin colour et-al, against these rioters and looters is a good starting point in bringing neighbourhoods "Closer" and becoming "communities" again.

That being, as far as I read it, the "Theme" of the above post.

For my own part, I was between a rock and a hard place when simultaneous riots were happening in North Tottenham and Edmonton Green.

It's been quiet tonight thankfully.

my general viewpoint on this whole mess is that those breaking the law by rioting and looting should be dealt with by "the law" (criminal justice system?) in a way that both shocks the offenders and discourages repeat behaviour by others of the same ilk.

I also believe that those behaving like adults should be treated as such by the justice system. I won't comment on that further, lest to say I hold my own opinion on the matter.
