Excellent point. Even the prison sentances are not those which will deter. I hope they make an example of these guys like they did with the bradford rioters many years ago.

A recent survey i think, best place to live in the UK apparently, would explain the large amount of people going there from England.
I think a factor in all of this is that people know they can get away with it. They saw on the first 2 nights that the police couldn't really do much in the way of deterants (ie water cannons rubber bullets). I really do think if the country reacted quicker and in a more aggressive way then people would think twice. If this was any other country i think they would have come down a lot harder! I just think this countrys laws are too soft.
there was loads of footage in TV for petes sake of people looting with complete ease!! The media really didn't help in that regard. What do they expect when there's a population of people who are socially deprived? Its basically an advert to loot! [I saw an episode of screenwipe which mentioned about a similar topic, things that don't help in terms of media exposure etc]
The Media were actually quite restrained to begin with on the coverage. The first night, although there were live cameras they were so far back it was difficult to see what was happening. It was only that attack on the BBC team that gave any real sense of what was going on.
The footage of the Tottenham Hale retail park just showed opportunists mostly and how could they not report that it was happening and it took the Police a long time to respond.
If you were following this thread on Sunday and watching coverage, BBC and Sky News were so restrained that they were almost pretending nothing was even happening on Sunday night, despite pockets of trouble and a big disturbance in Bristol.
Bigup the Sikhs staying strong and protecting our communities in these bad times.
Are you saying that a teacher delivers the lesson differently to each child in the class?
err........going where from England? North london?
Prisons are heaven for these people, they will love it there.
Plus they are so overcrowded with weed dealers and smokers, general pointless "criminals", i wish resources were spent on actual problems, so there'd be space for actual criminals.
So who is fuelling this idea about young black people being excluded from society, is it an accurate assessment or is it just perpetuating a myth?
Over the years there have been massive changes to combat racism and discrimination. Are people like Darcus Howe and Lee Jasper doing more harm than good?

Yes I agree with you. Fair play to them.

Oh my god, RACIST ALERT.
err........going where from England? North london?
Im not Racist its just an observation of what i seen on tv the same as when the news people are doing reports in the street black people are jumping behind the news readers and acting like there enjoying whats happening.
Maybe it helps that i have a colour tv and maybe you might have a black and white tv and cant tell the difference between black and white people.
Ahh right fair enough
I agree with Lord Sugar that the Media should print the faces of those involved ala what happened after the student riots.
Agreed. Been following this every night since Saturday.
