Where the heck is Holloway? I'm truly horrific on area names and where they all gel together, awesome directional sense, but I just can't remember names and area's, never have been able to.

Anyway they were saying there were explosions near Tottenham earlier, possibly some kind of diesel depot.

North East of Camden by a couple of miles.
It's north of islington and is on the A1.

We have such serious social issues in this country.

Housing estates are the primary source of all of these problems. They are the communities that breed a '**** the police' mentality. They're the ones you see stream out of their houses whenever police go anywhere near them to make an arrest, in order to give the police a hard time and push them out, like they're an enemy. They're the ones that have disrespectful children who are out at all hours of the day with very little parental discipline.

No legitimate, sensible, caring and morally assured parents would let their kids roam the streets knowing what is going on around the country. Those that are allowing it either have absolutely no control over their kids at all or they know and don't care, they may even want them to bring home loot.

No respectable parent is going to let their child bring home hundreds or even thousands of pounds worth of items into their home without at least questioning it.

This is a major aspect of events that hasn't really been focused on enough.

The only end I can see to this is when the unscrupulous scum that are participating in all of this finally decide they're happy with their hauls of loot and no longer want to risk being prosecuted to get more. The police and government will step things up if it continues and the odds of being caught will rise, particularly as many have already given up and are probably feeling delighted with their ill gotten gains (and gains they are, hundreds of pounds worth at least for most people involved).

It can easily flare up in the future too.

They're digging themselves a hole. They're reducing the chances of jobs in their areas, reducing the chances of themselves getting on the right track of employment by the criminal records many of them will get and they're increasing the burden on the public purse which will further boost the very things they may partially be unsettled about (inflation, taxes, cuts).

I still personally hate to see people act like the cuts are the problem. It amazes me how uneducated and short sighted the population can be over such a thing as cuts. What do they expect the government to do after 13 years of completely irresponsible over spending? You can only do it for so long until you have to put a stop to it or the country will go bankrupt. I can't believe some kids (and their parents) think it's alright to do these things because they lost their EMA, or because the police stop and search them sometimes, it's ridiculous. The left should take some serious responsibility for festering such an attitude of entitlement in this country for so long.

That shopkeeper who was just on Sky News was so completely and utterly right.

They do have a future if they are willing to work, to try and to make the best of their lives. They choose to be scum, they choose to continue their horrible attitudes and lack of respect. They are choosing to loot and make short term gains at the expense of long term poverty, economic decline and a breakdown of their local communities. It's just that they do not care at all, they'll get their few thousand pounds (or more) from their loot, they'll enjoy their trendy new electricals and clothes, but they still wont have jobs or a real future. What happens later? More crime? A life on benefits? The cycle will continue.

Estates, benefits, political correctness, irresponsible breeding and poor education have created this giant social underclass which has encapsulated half of an entire generation of people in this country. We're in serious trouble over this and I honestly cannot see any group of politicians from any party ever having the support or bravery to come out and take decisive and desperately needed action to combat this mass social decline.

Very ashamed and unhappy with all of these looters, their parents, family members who don't report it. We used to be such a great country, the decline is clear for all to see.

Very well put fella! :) Quoted so people have the opportunity to read it.

I really do think this country has gone soft. It seems to me that too many people from this generation of youths simply don't have any respect for themselves, their country and other people. I get the impression they don't have suitable role models and think they can get away with anything. I'm disgusted by this complete lack of regard for other people. I think its slowly going to get worse unless this country starts to grow more of a back bone and stand up for the upstanding citizens which make this country great. you could argue EU legislation has taken too much power away from the government. Up until recently you couldn't hold terrorist suspects for a reasonable amount of time for crying out loud! Now I'm not saying we should re-introduce capital punishment as I am against that 100% (although watching scenes from the past few days makes me unsure about this for a moment) BUT more deterants and greater punishments need to be introduced to combat this problem of being TOO soft. This could be as extreme as introducing National Service again or the cane back into schools. Or down to reducing the luxuries that prisoners receive to both save money and make prison more of a detterant.

That too, but moreso they were protecting their places of worship, as well as those of Christians, Hindus and Muslims (while they went to pray). #Sikh was trending worldwide on twitter ^____^

I can only wish we were all like that. Just coming together as Britsh people, with disregard to color or faith and put a stop to this. Mad respect to the Indians on this.

I work in one of the big hotels in manchester and we had some of our windows smashed in tonight. To say that seeing 100 or more people in masks walking past the hotel and then smashing the windows was scary is an understatment. Whats worse is that as soon as they started trying to smash the windows we evacuated the ground floor but some idiot guest decided to walk up to the main bay window and provoke them which caused them to throw bottles at us :\.

I finally looked it up, I really really do suck with names/locations, names of people/places and where they are just elude me. I know exactly where Holloway is, I just forget that area is Holloway, I'm like that with people. :(

THe idea of Ed milliband getting into power scares the living **** out of me.

I've seen basically one interview with him today, like the "repeating" interview, he seems to use basic words, or use a word that seems like he's just been told what it is, he sounds idiotic, I can't even remember what he said but it was so basic, pointless and unpolitical it was a joke. It was essentially " I agree with the police numbers increasing, its really bad out there", and that was about it.

I hope Ed is their "joke" guy, as they think they'll lose one more election so they have their sacrificial lamb guy, then they'll put someone who can, speak maybe up for the job afterwards and this backward ass country will vote whoever it is in, new new new Labour, spending through the roof and making change for the sake of change, none of it right.

to both save money and make prison more of a detterant.

100% agree. Many of my friends from school days have been locked up one time or another. Anytime I’ve asked how was it then, and all you get is them laughing it off saying its more a school for the wrong sorts and you come out knowing more crimbo stuff and are better at it.

Prison is a joke in this country, there should be absolutely no luxuries and it should be a hell hole. Man in Pakistan if you were unfortunate enough to be locked up for even a week you would go straight the rest of your life.

It's a total lack of discipline and respect that's going to be the downfall of this country.

I'm in my late thirties now and regularly have to go into schools to fix their computers and some of the behaviour I come across is unbelievable.

When I was still at school if we stepped out of line there was always the threat of the slipper or the cane looming which proved to be a big deterrent.
What have they got now? Teachers can't even shout at kids anymore without fear of being branded a bully and getting some sort of disciplinary action taken against themselves!
it's a complete joke imo. This country is going (gone) to the dogs. :(

To be honest id rather have Nigel running the nation, he may be wrong on a few things, but hes right on many.

Plus hes definitely not afraid to speak up against stupidity (as seen in the EU parliament).

But this bi-partisan bull that has ruined the US cannot continue here, its dangerous.

its all true. Yet we cant lock them up without their luxuries because it affects their "human rights" Im sorry but what about the people who are having their shops smashed in and looted where are their human rights??
