I am sick of all this talk about boredom, lack of resources, cuts, EMA, this government, that government, this is about the basic notion of right and wrong and that is an individual thing.

Why are people going out of their way to find reason to excuse this abhorrent behaviour.

We have all this stupid talk about criminalising people, here as a thought, don't commit crime if you don't want to be labelled as a criminal.

It's funny, when we point our finger at someone (i.e SCUM teaching our children) some psychologists say it is an unconscious reaction of the mind about things we dislike about our own self as you point one finger at them & 3 at your 'self'.

For the sake of humanity, please don't breed.

Interesting :)

Anyone see Gove vs. Harman on Newsnight?

Harman is a disgusting woman with an awful agenda and I sincerely hope all of you Labour fanboys can see her for what she is. She is a complete disgrace, trying to pin this all on the reform of the EMA, spending cuts and other tax related issues.

We are STILL spending far more money than we earn every year, there is still a massive deficit. The Labour loaded agenda moaning about Tory cuts is frankly ridiculous. They've barely cut enough to get the IMF off our backs, the country is still on the path to bankruptcy, courtesy of Labour.

She acts like these children were perfect under the old regime, but the second the Tories got into power and cut their free £30/week just to go to school (ridiculous in itself) that they rose up and decided to 'protest' (not riot). These kids are very much the children of a Labour government who mismanaged this country for thirteen years. These are Labour children, acting in the Labour way.

They feel deeply entitled to their freebies such as being paid to attend free education and plentiful benefits. Now they may lose some of these (as they rightly should), they feel as though they are entitled to rob and loot from other members of society. Labour created this entitlement culture and it really makes me sick that Harman can sit there and try to twist it to be the Tories fault.

I sincerely hope people can see through her bare faced lies and the lies of Ken Livingstone.

My wife can't stand Ms Harperson and yet she still thought she came off better last night.

Yep. It really is as simple as that. You want respect? Respect other people and their property.

Just had a driver at work return back. He came down the M6 and says it's covered in black smoke.

The star city near brum is apparently on fire

The mass implementation of CCTV around the country and particularly in London is also responsible for a decline in the trust of the words of a police officer and their testimony in court.

This has been mentioned by many police bloggers, including the famous Inspector Gadget (who's views on all this should certainly be read). Police officers testimonies become worth a lot less and it ended up almost being a requirement that in order to convict someone you needed footage on camera, or the Lawyers could wrangle some doubt and even if their client was still found guilty, it reduced the sentence.

I don't mind CCTV that much, but I'd like it to be used in conjunction with a much more visible and respected police presence. I'd like the police to be appreciated and allowed to get on with their job, they are well trained and the more public support they get, the better they work as a force in general.

Using the word force is wrong though sadly, as they were renamed to 'service' from 'force'. Yet more political correctness and I think it correctly outlines what the police have become now (again excellent stuff on this from Inspector Gadget). They are no longer a force that will prevent, catch and punish wrong doers, they are a service that is there to help you deal with the crimes that have been committed, carefully try and catch those responsible and then fill out paperwork, finally one of the thousands of 'police' who are just call centre daytime shift workers will call you and try to find out if you were happy with their service.

There are so many reasons why we are where we are, this is just another brief note of one.

It's not about excusing them. It's about UNDERSTANDING THE REASONS so that we can actually address them and PREVENT it from happening again.

But of course, if you're happy to sweep it under the rug, just label them as criminals and walk away, I won't bat an eyelid when the next time it happens they crack a brick on your head.

I'd be severely disappointed in your wife then.

Gove waited patiently with a great deal of restraint while she peddled her witch-like bs. He made his points clearly and concisely, despite routinely being interrupted by the witch. He pointed out quite clearly that she was playing both sides and how that was a disgraceful thing to do.

I can't see how anyone but the most naive feminist or die hard Labour supporter who could possibly think that Gove came out of that worse than Harman.

+1. The thugs who took part in this rioting/looting need to be hunted down and sent to prison for a long time. However if you don't look at the reasons why this happened and change society for the better then all this is bound to happen again.

There are many ways to stop it from happening again, just not many legal ones.

3 Lives lost, and over what?

Flipping disgrace.

A lot of respect for the Sikh and Muslim communities working together.

Where are the EDL defending their country? Oh wait?

Enough respect to the Police as well, they are doing what they can, and also the volunteers helping to clean up.

Yes he's a racist tool, but you can't be telling me you disagree with this statement?!

1: Parent accountability. You have children, you become responsible. If they are running around like vermin on the streets, then the parents take just as much pain.
At the minute a lot of parents have no responsibility for anti-social behavior.

I hate this arguement. Have you seen the age of most of the rioters on the news? They don't look like children to me!

These ADULTS need to take responsibility for themselves.

No, it was a police chief who didn't want to upset the public and appear heavy handed and call everyone in from leave straight away, it was a police chief who didn't want to get blamed if someone got seriously injured from a plastic bullet, it was a police chief who was too afraid to do his job.

Sorry but your argument still holds no weight, at all, shoot someone with a bullet, it hurts, it makes carrying out criminal activity much much harder.

But you're right, we shouldn't end up having people blame the government for decisions the police SHOULD be making, but here's the problem, when they are too afraid to do what needs to be done, they want someone in the government to give the go ahead, so if something goes wrong the press crucifys whoever that is, rather than the guy who should have given the go ahead in the police.

Again, its this stupid blame culture, its not just the police, local government don't want to do anything drastic or new for fear of them getting the blame for anything, our public sector workers have become a bunch of scared little girls unwilling to do anything without direct instructions.

We'll have to agree to disagree about the use of plastic rounds. I'm getting a bit bored of repeating my view even when it seems to have been proved correct.

I see your other points though. It's all very well and good to say that DC should have returned straight away and was seen to take leadership. However, perhaps he felt that it was right that the police deal with a situation that they are authorised to deal with. There is indeed a problem with people not wanting to stick their head above the parapet for fear of litigation, blame, etc etc.

The cause of it? Well it would be easy for me to blame the Labour government but I won't do that. I think it's just a shift in the ideals of society to the worse. It's promising that the community spirit is indeed still well and true and evident across our society. I guess there's just a battle between these people stomping out the sickening behaviour in other parts.

It's the do-gooders and the 'i support human rights' brigade and our soft justice system that are just as much to blame as the actual rioters.

Law abiding people don't need to understand them. Lock them up and throw away the key. Bring National Service back. Let the teachers discipline the kids. Let the Police clip kids behind the ear. And stop all this rubbish about understanding them.
