The kid running out of Sainsbury's with the bottle of wine reminds me of the kid in This Is England. Although I suppose he won't renounce his ways and will always be a little toerag. Why is there lots of bystanders just watching? Are they afraid of knocking someone down and performing a citizen's arrest? (saw an animated gif earlier on of someone knocking down a bloke trying to smash in a shop window, although that could have been in Canada)

This may be extreme view for some but I have seen the reason that rubber bullets weren't used or water cannons and most them given seem to be along the lines of human rights or fear of injuring them etc. Why? seriosuly why? If someone breaks the law to the extent that the rioters have they have put themselves outside of the law and therefore shouldn't be able to claim for any human rights if they get hit with rubber bullets or a police officer hits them with his truncheon. The police should be able to do what they can to stop them and arrest them. Obviously I don't think the police should be able to beat up anyone and everyone but in these situations they shouldn't be held back by fear of being punished for what they are doing or going to do.

It's more of a case that these things aren't effective in these sorts of riots. Plastic bullets, water cannon and the kind are for protecting something from an advancing group. Water cannon would be entirely pointless in a fluid, quickly moving, street level riot. They are incredibly slow, run out pretty quickly and not very maneuverable.

Guess that blows the theory all the looting and rioting is down to economic depravation out of the water.

No, it doesn't. As always, the situation is a little more complicated than can be summed up in a single cause or phrase, but the fact remains that the vast majority of people involved were young and from poor backgrounds. I also doubt idiot former teacher Alexis Bailey would have looted had the riots not been going on.

I read a post on BBC news from an annon policeman. He said he doesn't like that people are calling for rubber bullets. He said he would refuse to use them because they can be deadly. In this situation it is highly likely a fatality would occur and in that event he knows the media, the public, the judicial system and his seniors would provide no support for him whatsoever.

what an awesome photo. pity that little inbred scrote is only about 12. still, i'm sure we could have him painting the church fences in the area all summer and every weekend until he is 18.

bottle of plonk may seem a little excessive to him then.

good to hear that sentences are being given out rapidly. if anyone hears how the toff outside the carhartt outlet got on, please post it here. what an absoloute idiot.

how ironic that the little oik is actually running towards the library when the law court is the other way.

click next ,there's a lot more than a few.

But kudos on being able to tell the age of people by just the top part of their masked face.

Yea whatever keep lying to yourself to fit your agenda, I am talking about the rioting and looting in the streets not the organized gangs using cars to do pc worlds etc.You don't even live in london btw my local area rose hill was a mini riot too and guess what yea it was under 18's.

I was more thinking about the calm, stationary wall of humanity as opposed to a bunch of drunken sounding yobs rushing around.

My Grandmother goes to that temple, she lives just around the corner.

She goes there everyday, and yesterday she said everyone was calm but getting a bit protective about the temple.
