Riots in Tottenham, London! (NO RACIST COMMENTS)

Lets get one thing stright if you state the facts.

I witnessed a black/white person doing something that is not being a racist that is stating the facts!

Apart from last night the footage I have seen on Tv showed black people looting, the next morning it showed at least 85% white to 15% black cleaning up, thats fact, unless the TV's now have special cameras that only film blacks causing trouble and whites doing good!

Get a grip.

Unfortunately he is right :(

Maybe due to the fact that Ealing has a higher white population.

It would be the same as stating sex, age, height, number of limbs/heads/eyes. It is a statement of description and fact.

By stating the fact, you infer towards something off the back of it.

"85% of the looters were black." infers, regardless of intention, that there is a common link between black people and being looters.

Really?

Would you honestly say "I noticed that 85% of the people cleaning up were under 6 foot?"

I wouldn't even think of them being male or female as being an important factor.

But stating colour is only racist if you state it to be. If I pointed out a woman would you call me sexist? "I spotted at least 5 women looting debenhams"... sexist? really? "I spotted 5 BLACK women looting Debenhams"... now you have a problem because apparently that's racist.

No it isn't, it's a statement of fact, nothing more.

Why don't the police research some sort of catching device, like a grappling hook, lasso or net, something reusable, that way the front line of riot police can grab people throwing junk and take them in?

Interesting that you say that.

On sky news this morning the former metropolitan police commissioner was on, and he said that they should use water cannons with "smart water" so when they check the people under uv light it shows spots of the substance.

No, if I stated that fact I am not the one inferring a common link, it is the reader who wishes to interpret that link who is the racist surely?

Rumours a police station in sunderland has been fire bombed. Anyone got any links to it? At work so can't find anything.

Hopefully they'll take out the whole city with the mackems all inside :p

Riddle me this sherleck, and i am using the same quote you did:

I witnessed a black/white person doing something that is not being a racist that is stating the facts!
Apart from last night the footage I have seen on Tv showed black people looting,

Why did he say people, and person? Why does race matter, but not gender, when both are superfluous details outside of a game of Whos who?

The thing is though, what defines a racist remark in this case?

"I just saw on the news all the people rioting were black and all the people cleaning up were white..."

That is probably what a lot of people are seeing and then it provokes remarks like that, I don't think it is being directly racist.

Saying things like -

"There are no black people in my area so we are safe from riots..."

Is more openly racist.

What happens if both statements happen to be completely accurate? (Which they are) Do we have to stop ourselves from saying it even if it's the truth?
