lol. And who are these homeguard? And where are you getting your information from? I'm pretty sure that the armed forces weren't deployed during the g20 riots in Pittsburgh, 2005 Toledo Riots or the Cincinnati Riots in 2001 (the largest since the infamous LA Riots).

Sorry they are now called the national guard

The United States Home Guard was a Branch of the United States Armed Forces. It served as an option for those who wish to join the military but are unwilling or unable (due to political commitments) to deploy abroad. After being formed out of the old National Guard, the Home Guard was eventually renamed again to the United States National Guard.
Led by General qkoller and later General Jankems, the Home Guard was the last line in the defense of the American homeland. As the military's stay-at-home force, the HG did not deploy on foreign missions, although they did allow their soldiers leave to deploy in allied conflicts. Instead, the Home Guard kept themselves at a high state of readiness in preparation for any threat to American soil. The HG was the perfect place for congressmen or other citizens who could not deploy to foreign nations, but still wanted to proudly support their country through military service. In February 2010 during a Joint Chiefs of Staff structure reorganization, the National Guard was reinstated in place of the defunct Home Guard as a mobile military force with a dedicated domestic battalion for land-locked personnel while the rest of the branch is able to deploy overseas and participate in mobile strike operation

La. governor warns troops will “shoot and kill”
Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco warned rioters and looters in New Orleans on Thursday that National Guard troops are under her orders to “shoot and kill” to end the rampant violence in the city in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Announcing the arrival of 300 Arkansas National Guard troops in New Orleans fresh from service in Iraq, Blanco said, “these troops are battle-tested. They have M-16s and are locked and loaded.” “These troops know how to shoot and kill and I expect they will,” she said.

Simon Israel on Channel 4 news made some interesting comments. Basically the courts are now in chaos and simply can't cope with the number of cases they have to deal with - some magistrates court are sitting through the night to try to keep up. There was an interview with one scrote in London who pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods, he seemed to say he was initially given a £100 fine, but as he'd already spent 21 hours in a police cell they let him off scott free, he was then asked why he thought the riots happened he said it's cos the police are disrespecting us  . So much for the "fight back" eh?

Theresa May still talking about cutting police budgets and front line officers.

I'm assuming of course this makes you incredibly angry at Labour, as if they hadn't spent us into a recession, they borrowed their way out of a recession, put us in massive debt with a huge deficit, we wouldn't be needing to make such large cuts.

THerse 140k police in the UK, 16k was all that was needed to essentially squash the London rioting, the wrong people were in charge of the police, and the wrong training, the wrong general attitude(police are scared to act), all this carries over from the previous decade of management, under labour.

The problem wasn't numbers on the street, it was largely tactics, and people not calling in everyone who was on leave/elsewhere quickly enough. Theres nothing to suggest 12.5k less officers across the UK would have made the slightest bit of difference.

I don't suppose you saw Channel 4 news just now? Showed a calm, stationary wall of humanity armed with kirpans and other weapons legging it through Birmingham last night fighting with a well armed gang. The media seem to have kept this very quiet until now but apparently a black youth was dragged from his vehicle and badly beaten outside a Gurdwara for shouting abuse at the worshipers. Keep burying your head in the sand though and blaming the EDL for everything.

the black community and asian community have never really gotten on in certain parts of the mindlands. 3 young pakistani lads were killed when hit by a car that mounted the footpath and drove off last night. police and locals are expecting it to kick off between the two communities.

I properly lol'd at this one:

The New Orleans situation was somewhat different to that of London. New Orleans was in a total law less situation, whilst what we have is bad, it's not of the same scope.
If you look at other riots in the US you'll see that the army hasn't been deployed as hastily as you seem to believe.
The police can control this, we don't need the army.

At the end of the day, young people my age are ****** off at the moment.

Many reasons such as:

  • Increase in tuition fees
  • EMA cut
  • youth projects cut

BUT this give them no reason to riot.

Also they should consider themselves lucky that they don't have to pay tuition fees upfront. Only when they start earning above a certain amount.

If they're bored there is plenty of **** on TV, stuff to do on the PC.
Hang out with mates.
Maybe they could help they're parents for once

it amazes me that i dont see the police use any tear gas, flash bombs, bricks, excessive force, water cannons etc to deal with this....

Ah but you see, our police service think they are the best in the world, so they don't need those capabilities that more thuggish continental police forces need to use. That hubris looks sorely out of place now.

P.S. Good to see you posting here again - how's it going in Greece? Any hope for the future?

It sounds to be like the rioters have got bored? It's a shame, as now the Police have Government backing they'd actually be able to deal with it effectively and hopefully crack some heads. Shame. :/
