The morons near me have started a Facebook page about the riots in Hinckley. Because of course people are going to be rioting in a boring sleepy town.

Because for people from poor backgrounds, there is pressure on them to go out to work to get money now to ease the burden on the parents rather than stay in education. Sheesh, I swear some people on here have never actually met a poor person.

BTW, the benefits of EMA outweigh the costs: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-11998992

No it doesn't and saying so is ridiculous, when the country is massively overspending, you don't increase spending.

THe reality is, millions, billions of people in other countries don't have the option of university, and neither does everyone here. Theres plenty of well off kids who have crap parents, move out and have to work and can't afford uni. Theres plenty of mature students who work, save up and go to uni, or do a open uni course.

Sorry but paying people to go to school is ridiculous.

oh and

Ministers argue that only 12% of those receiving EMA say they would have left education if the cash was not available, creating a "deadweight" cost of paying 88% of them to do something they were planning to do anyway.

The IFS report said: "The question is: to what extent does the wasted spending on those whose behaviour was unaffected offset the beneficial effect of the spending on those whose behaviour was affected?

"The simple cost-benefit analysis mentioned above suggests that even taking into account the level of deadweight that was found, the costs of EMA are completely offset."

So 88% of the 600k on £30 a week x52 weeks = £82,368,000 to kids who would have gone to school anyway.

Yeah, brilliant, another 100mil thrown away by Labour.

It was rolled out in 2004 apparently, so 7 years of lets say 75mil a year(don't know how many people used to take it or do now, probalby being conservative with the number), so circa half a billion spent on something that didn't work when the country was ****ing money all over the place on things it didn't need, that got us into an economic crisis.

Seriously, how can you support Labour?

Its another Labour tool, errm, we're going to lose the next election, I know, lets start handing out free crap now, get us in horrific debt so Conservatives have to cut all the free crap and make loads of other cuts, haha, we'll be back in no time.

I can actually understand the FEELING that you are having stuff being taken away, I've said for a long time, Conservatives are the right idea's with utterly rubbish, rubbish PR.

The new tuition fee's make the rich pay MORE than they used to, the poorest pay basically nothing, and it makes it easier to actually live while at uni because you aren't paying tuition from your loan, so I'd have had basically 33% more money to live on a year.

But conservatives have rubbish PR and Labour lie to make it look bad.

EMA, tell them Labour were handing out free money and taxing your parents more to do so, they were buying you off, they knew you were poor and handed out free money while taking it elsewhere, they were fobbing you off and pretending to be nice while ****** the country up the backside.

Paying kids to go to school, while making school easier, which is more boring. Kids need to WORK HARD in school so their entire hour is filled up in each lesson, towards the end of my time in education the lessons were becoming pathetic, with everyone messing around because there simply wasn't any hard work to fill up the time.

Seriously, Labour are a god damned menace, and if the conservatives hired some god damned competant speech writers and PR people, the country would be rallying round to get through the economic crisis. Labour disgust me in their attitude, the smarter Labour people know exactly what mess they got this country in, but scoring points, lying, and blaming the conservatives while telling poor people they are being screwed by the new government is god damned reckless, inaccurate and, pathetic.

Perfect.

Anyone that still votes Labour has got to be mentally deficient/retarded, gullible, stubborn, ignorant and unable to learn from past mistakes.

EMA and surestart has really worked well for the rioting scum, hasn't it ;)

Even the Police and random people are saying it's dead in town.

There was a van here last night with 4 very bored looking Police. Half of the shops had gone into panic mode and removed all of their stock (no idea why!). No Police in sight tonight and the shops haven't bothered.

Had this sent to me earlier

"Hello Rioters. Look at your friend, now back to me.
Now at your friend , now back to me.
Sadly he isn't me, but if he stopped using petrol bombs and started using the job centre he could potentially be me.
look Down, now back up. Where are we? You're at a interview with the man your friend could work for.
Wahts in your hand? Back at me. i have its an application form to that job you need.
Look again. The form is now money. Anything is possible when you get a job and stop looting.

This has to be the joke of the day:

1920: In a further Libyan response to unrest in the UK, Libya's official news agency Jana has published a report urging the UN to protect British "protesters" from "repression".
