World of Tropico Official Site

The world is changing and Tropico is moving with the times - geographical powers rise and fall and the world market is dominated by new players with new demands and offers - and you, as El Presidente, face a whole new set of challenges. If you are to triumph over your naysayers you will need to gain as much support from your people as possible. Your decisions will shape the future of your nation, and more importantly, the size of your off-shore bank account.

Tropico 4 expands on the gameplay of the previous game with new political additions ? including more superpowers to negotiate with, along with the ability to elect ministers into power to help get your more controversial policies passed. But remember to keep your friends close and your enemies closer as everyone has an agenda! Your political mettle will be thoroughly tested, as new natural disasters will have the populace clamoring for you and your cabinet to help them recover from some of the worst Mother Nature can dish out.

Tropico 4 also brings a new level of social interaction with the addition of Facebook and Twitter integration. Post comments on Twitter direct from the game and have updates go out when you complete missions or unlock new achievements. You can even take screenshots of your burgeoning island and post your dream creation on your Tropico 4 Facebook page and compare your interactive Dictator Ranking on the online leaderboards.

I know lots of you have picked this up on Steam already, I just don't have enough money :( - really enjoyed Tropico 3, so will definitely be getting this one!

Just played through the demo.

First impression is that it is pretty much Tropico 3 with a few new buildings, a new UI and slightly better graphics. Most of the buildings that were in Tropico 3 look exactly the same and function in the same way, even the advice pop-ups and election speeches are lifted word-for-word from Tropico 3. The biggest improvement I could find is that road-building is no longer thwarted if there happens to be a rock in the way of where you want to build.

I certainly won't be buying it at full price and I wouldn't recommend anyone who has Tropico 3 to do so.

I would have to agree with this. It felt EXACTLY the same as Tropico 3 - I had to check I wasn't playing the wrong game!

Just tried the demo, whilst it runs a lot smoother, looks a little better and its as fun as Tropico 3, still feels like an overpriced expansion. I'll wait till the price drops.

Pretty much how I felt when I played it too. Loved Tropico 3, think it's a very under rated game, but felt like they needed to add more to justify a Tropico 4.

Agreed this should be dlc and at the most £10. Its tropico 3 fixed and with a few extra buildings and scenarios :(

I agree it feels like an expansion pack, very disappointing.

All of the same building models that were in Tropico 3 have been reused! Even small things like icons and warnings. It is essentially Tropico 3 which has been tweaked and a few new buildings added.

The interface is worse than before for building you need to click through sub menus where as before they were all displayed and quickly accessible.

I'd say the graphics are worse, with all settings up as high as possible the buildings are not as sharp as in Tropico 3 when viewed at a slight distance.

The idea of fast building is nice but I find myself using it all the time once I am generating enough money. While I like the fact that construction of buildings can take seconds; the game feels kinda hollow with this fast build feature.

Am on the 3rd level and the amount of times that there are interruptions with some annoying voice over is crazy (even when tips are disabled).

Not all that impressed.
