Riots in Tottenham, London! (NO RACIST COMMENTS)

Prescott ****ed me off on QT last night. He seems to think that shouting and bawling and finger pointing makes his points more valid when he just looks like an idiot. Labour voters love it though, they lap it up. Much respect to him for decking that egg throwing guy a few years ago, but he's past it now, far too died in the wool.

Old dinosaurs like him keep dragging ancient political issues up, meaning no one ever moves on . Labour voters seem to be incapable of considering any other political options or loyalties and are always banging on about Maggie Thatcher stopping school milk or some other slightly bad thing that happened under the Tories 25-30 years ago etc.

Surely we should be focussing on the problems now and not going "yeah well you did this ages ago and this happened so ner!"

As for Milliband.... Christ.

(Labout voters: please don't take that last statement to mean that Milliband is the second coming of Jesus or anything)

In the same court, Gary Herriot, 47, from Collyhurst, admitted handling £1,000 worth of jewellery from Links of London in Manchester - a store targeted by rioters.

Herriot, who has 126 previous convictions, admitted the charge and will be sentenced at Manchester Crown Court later

Revolving door justice, a prime example.

Yep, his incoherent rant had strong racial undertones too.

Just a little, what does slavery towards black people have to do with any of this?

None the less, a few good points, but one star in the sky won't shine daylight on the situation.

It's the typical black guys rant about rich man/poor man dross rolled with some obscure link to slavery. Seriously, black slavery has been and gone, get over it.

It's also the typical "lets forget about the still evident damage that slavery has done" scenario. Seriously, there are still problems today because of the slavery era. Stuff that's passed down from one generation to another that was so greatly interrupted by slavery is still being passed down the generations. All because of slavery. (extreme child discipline and hostile parenting being the big culprit)

dramatically raising wages dramatically raises costs which means you have to dramatically raise benefits for them to be liveable then you're in the exact same situation

Seriously how did you think that would work?

Or you redistribute some of the wealth currently being concentrated into the very rich few and spread it more widely. Our country is very unequal so there is plenty of room to do this.

Or how about no?

Most people dont become rich by sitting on their ass, they work dam hard at making a business or whatever it is they do.

Why should someone who has become very rich have to give it away to the poor?

Most will already be hiring a lot of staff and giving back that way.

How about something that doesn't involve the use of force?

The idea that the rich have genuinely earned their vast proportion of the UK's wealth is utterly laughable.

Once recent report concluded that for the every pound a broker is paid they actually cost the UK seven pounds; the complete reverse of the situation with cleaners, who add about eleven pounds for each pound they are paid. IIRC.

Could not have put it better my self!

I came out of school with (probably) less qualifications than most of these idiotic rioters!

Guess what? I worked my butt off to correct that stupid time in my life, got stuck in and decided to learn on the job. Sure it was tough but I am shooting up in my career and loving it (within reason lol).

All due to my mum being a bit of a hard case when it came to things about work and education.

Consider it an investment. Want lower crime? Pay your taxes. Want better educated staff? Pay your taxes. Want your staff to be healthy and therefore more productive? Pay your taxes.

How much do you take from whom? Whom do you give it to? And how do you do it without just angering all the rich people? And what do you do when a bunch of rich people leave and tax revenues fall as a result?
