On BBC Breakfast now there's a report from Philadelphia, where young people are using social media to arrange meet ups and then go on the rampage - sounds awfully familiar. Their plan for dealing with it is introduce curfews and fine the parents.

At Camberwell Green magistrates' court yesterday, a college student, who had no previous convictions, was jailed for six months for stealing a £3.50 case of bottled water. Nicolas Robinson, 23, of Borough, south-east London, stole the goods as he passed a Lidl supermarket in Brixton on Sunday night. He threw away the water when he saw police but was arrested and admitted the theft.

To be fair, the police are complaining about this from Cameron and May.

why is this good? its costs £32k a year to keep one person in prison so he will serve 3 months at a cost of £8000 to the tax payer, plus the costs of probation for the other 3 months, not to mention the court and CPS costs. Its ridiculous should have just given him a community order.
Im sorry yes the riots are wrong, but if he had gone out and robbed lidl this weekend he wouldn't be going anywhere near prison
I work in criminal justice and giving out harsh sentences that are politically motivated will solve nothing, in fact some will leave prison much more criminalised then when they entered

I am afraid I am well aware and have been speaking out of he prospect of this since at least 20 years.
It's handing out things like community orders that got us in this position in the first place. This is to send out a clear message to anyone that would get involved in such disgusting behaviour that it won't be tolerated. If it prevents such scenes occurring again, then £8k is a bargain.
So I see people have already used this thread to promote their own agenda's Britain out of Europe again I see

Is it acceptable to portray that without immigration we would all be like above? If I had said - " lazy robbing black lay abouts" there would have been an outcry of racism yet it seems to me to be acceptable to posy blatant antiwhite crap and no one batters and eye.

I see you still had a few more stereotypes left, two in one. It does make a lot of sense to compare the situations of two countries so different in almost all levels.
Commonwealth? We already have very strong links with most of those countries. We could go ahead and reform the commonwealth a la EU? Or we could stop being childish and have a real say in what is happening next door, curiously enough our biggest trading partners.

You sound quite naive.
Norway only supports a population of around five million. They export vast amounts of oil/gas, have huge fish stocks and are wealthy. They can and will continue to survive as they are. We wouldn’t stand much of a chance. As to trade with the commonwealth, they survive on cheap trade with the Far East. I can’t really see us making very much headway there. What are we going to export to them. I know unemployed rioting scum.
