James, that first one is superb. great moment captured!

Thanks, was one of those "right settings, right moment" photos lol.

Today I've been tasked with taking a photo along the theme of addiction, which is harder than I initially thought!

I've taken loads of photos for it but after a quick play I ended up with a few different versions of these 2 (won't post them all as you'd all get bored to death lol).

General Addiction 2 Final by jjohnson2012, on Flickr

"Sadly", no one in my house smokes anymore, so I couldn't get a cigarette for the photo, which would have fit in vastly better with it, although in hindsight, I could have added tinfoil and a teaspoon... haha :D

Alcohol Addiction 3 Final by jjohnson2012, on Flickr

Prefer this one personally. A more simple photo with a simple colour gradient added to the background to make it stand out more. I placed the glass intentionally in the background for 2 reasons, firstly to abuse the amount of Bokeh I got (naturally haha) but then also to try and say that the contents of a glass are the last thought when an entire bottle is available.

Theres 3 major versions of each of these but these are my favourites so far.

Taken outside the opening of the Belfast Photo Festival which is on this week. My friend Ross captures a street portrait of one of the festival goers.

Edit: fixed :)

Surely there are a few here using photoshop as it is very hard to believe camera's can do such amazing quality pictures

If you shoot in raw then you have to Photoshop or Lightroom process your images as Raw will capture images as flat as possible due to not having any processing done to them.

Taken at the Olympic Bike Practice, don't ask about the actual cyclists :p

Heh,

I think the best motion blur shot I got was of a Police motorcyclist as well, while I was just testing waiting for the riders!

Slightly disappointed that I wasn't using a fast enough shutter speed as they came towards Buckingham Palace at the end. I was going to switch from AV mode to TV mode as they came past, so I could go for the motion blur look. But when they finally showed up, everything was so quick that I was still in TV mode with a lower shutter speed as they came towards me... then when they went past there were so many people in the way.

Slightly annoying, but then I've got a good idea what to be doing and exactly where to stand next year.
