Rumour has it that a well known member of this forum has been moonlighting in lycra and riding events on the road!!!!! :o

I say we ban him from all future meets and stone him if he turns up as he is obviously too fit and will show us up ;)

Any ideas guys?

seals gone. could have happened if there was grit on the fork leg and it found it's toward the seal. rubberseals hate being thrust up and down against grit. the oil running down is where the compression of the fork is shifting the oil past the seal and mavity does the rest....

problem on motorbikes too.

Aceness, what Ladybower route did you do? Was at ladybower on Friday myself.
This one;

You can see the stats in the picture itself :)
This is the Monkey Trail that we did in Cannock last week; it took a little while due to my mate in all his wisdon, deciding to buy a DH bike (Norco DH Race) for his riding. I did tell him he'll struggle to pedal it! Monkey Trail has a cracking end section!

Nice one, cheers. Seals won't be the end of the world to replace so it won't cost the Earth like I thought it might!

Hi chaps. I've got a problem with my bike and thought I'd post in here rather than start a new thread.

Over the last couple of days my bike (Specialized Hardrock 09) has developed a rubbing/grinding noise. I got home and took the back wheel off and have found the part making the noise:

If I spin the wheel the 'bolt' circled will rotate with the wheel and make no noise, but obviously when on the frame it is clamped in place so will stay fixed while the wheel turns. As the wheel turns I can hear a sort of rubbing/grinding noise.

Any ideas what this could be? I'm guessing probably a bearing has gone? Could some dirt have got in there and cause a problem? I didn't want to unscrew anything further incase I couldn't get it back together again :o

Thanks for any help.

Well back from France now :(. As Jimferno said a week just isnt enough, it flew by so quickly. Got a few more videos uploaded to share.

Decent run down Chavannes in Les Gets, met a bit of trail traffic though and then battery died towards the end....

A run down The Gully in Les Gets, a few missed turns but a decent run considering hadnt ridden it in about 3 years :)

The black run back down to Morzine from the top of the Super Morzine lift. This is very steep, rooty and technical. Shame the steepness doesnt come across the same on camera.

The road gap on the way to the Chatel Bike Park. Hit it a little fast and landed right at the bottom of the landing :D

Back to pushing up the hills now........

Spudmaster - Nice vids - But you did the Morzine black wrong. at 46 seconds on your right there was a very steep drop. you should have gone down there.

Well thats the route I took. very steep in fact

Guys

Going to get a bike on one of these ride to work schemes through the company I work for. What’s the best bike for a grand ? I’m going to be using the bike for off road riding for the moment in the local common etc, not going to be using it on road really and i i do it will only be riding to work which is only a few miles down the road. I’ve been looking at specialized but really dont know a lot about bikes.

Cheers

We did that on another run, it was actually taped off as they appeared to be building some kind of 'north shore' leading to it.

Another downside about Morzine, it made me come home wanting a proper downhill bike so I put a deposit down on a 2012 Demo w/Cane Creek Double Barrel. Now I need to find 2K to pay for it! :D

That's not the Morzine black. The Morzine black is the one up the pleney lift, down the middle.
This is the Super morzine track, not far off Run of the Mil etc.

Nice vids Spud, your Chatel road gap made me laugh though. I did the same the first year I was out there two years ago (not last year... confidence was a bit low after broken arm). I kept on telling myself to leave the brakes leave the brakes leave the brakes, and nearly landed in the berm (well not quite, but too flat for my liking)... which would have been more dangerous than coming short on it :D !
The gulley/canyon also looks ace in that vid, I sure hope we get it nice and dry lik you lads have!

ps: Nice to have more downhillers in the thread now btw :D

Starting now, MTBCuts been plugging it all week on twitter :D

Hmm, it's not like you were going fast to clear it either.
Grrr, hope I succumb to peer-pressure :D

I cocked up on my first attempt and still cleared it, best bet is to follow someone into it and match their speed.

I'd have rather hit it faster, just couldn't get any power down on the pedals cos my gears kept slipping and I had no tools on hand to fix 'em.

Heh yep same me.

Sorry I missed a word out:eek:. I meant to say Super Morzine black....
Still at 46 seconds you should have come down that slope on your right.

yeah we did that on other runs but tbh the random northshore style thing they added just before it spoilt it so we went around it all but the first time.

The last time i did the road gap was in 2006 and it was a little different back then, mainly the landing being longer and not quite as steep and the corner before it was flat without a big berm they've now added. . When i hit it this time the steeper landing looked to be disappearing quickly beneath me :p

Yeah the weather was really good, bar our first day of riding it was pretty much bone dry. We road the Super Morzine Black on the first day when it was slick with mud. Shame i didnt have camera with me that day to show the difference :D

That was the exact problem I had on my motorbike a few weeks back! :(
