Online retailer GamesBasement.co.uk stole my money!

I believe under current UK law you can visit the premises and take one of the wimmin as collateral until your money is refunded.

I hope the bank can but I thought they only cover for credit card payments, will have to pop down tomorrow!

That's not correct. Your bank will be able to reverse the payment. You get more protection with credit cards, but payments on debit cards can be dealt with too.

Buy from an honest trustworthy business like OcUK In future!

Ive had no end of issues with OCuk, but thats another story...

Personally I would have contacted my bank/gone to CAB/Small claims court. Good you kept a log but now is the time to take some heavy action.

I'm waiting on a refund from a company, nearly £200. The company begins with an a and ends in a

Graphics card xfx 5870 was faulty, that was the middle of june, took weeks to actually test it, it's now the middle of August.

I was wondering if my bank can do a charge back.

Have you posted on their forum kicking up a fuss? I used to work there and the more you complain the quicker they tend to process stuff like that.

This is one reason why it's really worth purchasing stuff online using a Credit Card if you can, as you get better protection.

Your bank should be able to help, but I've never had to call them about a debit card transaction that was never received.

First thing I would do would be again to e-mail or phone the company and explain how long it's been, the lack of clarity from the company as to why you have yet to be refunded.

I would then give them an ultimatum, tell them that you will give them something like 5-7 days before you have your bank reverse the payment. Obviously make sure all the details are there so they are aware of who you are, so they can refund you.

I had a similar issue with a company where I placed an order for a few items. I waited a month and had not received anything, so I e-mailed them to ask why not. One item was out of stock, so I asked why had they not sent me the items that were in stock. They apologised and said they would send them out the next day. A week went by and nothing, so I e-mailed them again, got no response. Another week later, they finally arrived. However it had now been two months and the main item I had ordered still hadn't arrived. I e-mailed them again (as there was no number) and heard nothing back.

So I then sent them an ultimatum e-mail like I've outlined above and they refunded me pretty much straight away after that.

I'd imagine it's not good for a company to have payments being reversed by a bank.

Aye, CAB and start following legal proceedings. Also, one of our legal experienced forumites might offer to lend a helping hand with a letter (thanks again Skull! :)) .

Once a company starts seeing the words 'Legal action will be taken' and 'County Court' they generally pull their finger out their ass. Worked for me with Orange after after they took the **** out of me for months on end.

If you do a little hunting you would find Tesco Direct were selling Tritton AX PRO for £96, with p&p a total of £101.
Think I'm safe, as OcUk don't sell these.

Beaten to it :-) Although I think it's the Triton AX720 at £99. I always do a Google search for anything I'm thinking of buying and it's surprising how often a well known (hopefully safer) seller can be found. OCUK nearly always comes up from a Google shopping search for computer bits and with the free delivery nearly always - ;) - well priced.

It would be good if we could get some recommendations from people here on where to go for stuff. I've had very good returns service from Staples on line if it helps (hopefully not seen as an OCUK competitor).

Andi.

Pretty sure that the bank can do some kind of thing about it. I know if you phone trading standards they may be able to give you more advice about this :)

Some shocking reviews of GamesBasement.co.uk on MoneySavingExpert, and just googling around in general. Looks like people have been having a few problems with them for some time now. :(

Based on what's been said I most certainly won't be shopping at GamesBasement.co.uk any time soon, GamesBasement.co.uk sounds like a joke of an organisation, bad GamesBasement.co.uk !
