Newell: We have to convince EA to come back

Sorry and Origin won't become a monopoly? Explain to me how Origin is competing with Steam when they dont even sell the same games???

Also how is Steam a monopoly? Do D2D, GoG, Impulse and Gamersgate not get a look-in?

Actually thinking about it ur right, they don't sell the same games so there is no good competition from it.

And yes Direct 2 Drive and impulse are competition, but more competition against steam the better in my opinion.

I have had poor experience with EA and how they managed my existing account so I don't think I will be giving them my cash, its BFBC 2.5 by all accounts ?

I don't value boxed PC games anymore. The last one I bought was GTA4 as it was being sold for £9.99 on release by Morrisons (I since bought GTA 4 + episodes for £6.79 on Steam). I just feel that once I activate the game, the box and disc are pretty much useless and should I ever need to re-install the game, I'd have to jump through hoops to get the game working again. Ok, maybe that's a slight exageration but last year my HDD borked. I bought a new one from here and all I did was was download steam and re-download my games. I haven't had one single issue. I had about 70 Steam games at the time installed. If I'd have had 70 boxed games installed and wanted to re-install them on the new HDD, I'm pretty sure that a few of them would have given me a hard time. I'm sticking to Steam as far as the PC goes.

Origin is fine.

"Oh no I have to use another 50mb of 8gb RAM on my gaming rig boohoo"

Dry your eyes and shut the **** up.

That is not the point. Anyone with the hardware to play BF3 cannot argue on those grounds. The main point of contention is the precident it will set. How long before we will need an Activision client and a Ubisoft client and on and on and on and it will get stupid and one of the main reasons why many use Steam (able to have all your games in one place regardless of whether you purchased it on Steam or not) will be totally gone.

And you think it wont be the same on release?? This is EA we are talking about here.

Why would it be? Battlelog is a brilliant idea.

Jesus when did gamers get so entitled? (Not a direct insult, generalisation of observation)

Origin is fine, competition is good, the more clients the merrier in my book.

Sooner that happens, sooner we get APIs to join em all together.

NO ITS NOT ******* COMPETITION. BF3 is on Origin and not on Steam so they are NOT competing on that title. Will other EA titles appear on Steam? Unlikely. So they wont be competing.

Not saying Battlelog is bad I am saying I would rather launch games from my Steam Library with the overlay.

Also why we're on EA.

One of the few publishers pumping hundreds of millions into the PC platform. Yeah **** them.

I'd much rather give my money to Epic, MGS or Activision.

I bet you have a taskbar filled with junk ;P

I leave Steam on all the time, don't see why I would want more clients with games dotted around on one or another when I could have them all in one place. taking up ram and just being generally superfluous

Yes but Steam and Origin will NOT be competing and they are the only two offering similar clients with attached social applications whereas the others are merely download services.

EA KNOW that Origin cannot compete with Steam.

impulse has social features i dont know about the others
