*Throws toys out of the pram*

good on HTC just wish few more manufactures would take on apple.

Although it would be better if someone actually beat apple in the court room for once, but hey ho that’s not going to happen.

the judges always seem to side with apple for some reason....

Nokia already did and won a $400m pay out, plus on going license costs

In what way could the 3GS be considered "very poor tech" back in June 2009? That's the same time that the HTC Hero, Samsung i7500 and N97 came out.

Well for starters for 6 months I had been on a device with more than twice as many pixels... (Touch HD) If I wasn't on my tablet and could be bothered I would look up more comparisons.

Yes, it did have a higher resolution screen but it also displayed less colours and was a plastic resistive screen that didn't support multitouch. It also had a slower CPU, a vastly inferior GPU and lower resolution video recording.

Which is not to knock the Touch HD (or any other phone) at all, but to suggest the 3GS was "very poor tech" is kind of crazy :)

I gave that as an example, as I said I'd had that phone some time (it was released almost a year earlier in fact!)

Take the HTC HD2 only a few months after the 3GS, once again twice as many pixels, 1ghz CPU, 5MPS camera.

The iPhone, well before the iP4 which at least had a decent screen compared to others around its release, has never been cutting edge tech. Maybe 'very' poor tech was pushing it, but I stand by it being poor tech.

It will be interesting to see what the iP5 brings. With the Nexus Prime rumored to be 1.5ghz Dual Core, do you think the iP5 will be that powerful?

I think a better question would be; does it need to be that powerful?

Even with its lowly single core processor my iPhone 4 has never lacked speed.

I think it needs to be, otherwise when they all get together at the holidays the dual core phones will point and laugh and tease it...

That's because it's powered by Steve Jobs' magic farts, duh!

(let's kick this off again!) :p

I don't think an iPhone needs that powerful a spec to be a smooth experience. there's only one hardware spec to build around so they can put all efforts on that like they always do. Until the next iPhone and they disregard the previous phone almost entirely.

Everyone knows Apple have the bestest shizzle dizzlle, heck they even shape Intel's roadmap these days and the A5 SoC is currently "the most powerful SoC in the world" /jeremyclarkson

Do they need it to make the iPhone run smoother? No!
Do they need it to make the iPhone run better 3D games? Yes!

iOS 5 (beta) is currently perfectly smooth on the iPhone 4. I think most people can agree that the gains from 1/1.2Ghz > 1.5Ghz dual-core are going to be very limited on a phone, especially one with better optimised software than an Android phone. For example, the Galaxy S II just about manages perfectly smooth operation, but it's taken a while.

Apple just make sure their hardware will run the software for the next 2-3~ years.

I find it funny, but without apple android wouldnt have even batted an eyelid at. Ios revolutionised the smartphone business , and as much as I hate it now, we can atest phones today all to it.

Are you kidding? Google bought Android Inc in 2005, about 18 months before Jobs even talked about the iPhone.

the chap with the Android Signature said:
Yup, I hate their company that much:

- don't like the prices they sell their items at
- don't like the way they take ideas that have been around for ages and reintroduce them as brand new and that they thought of them first and every one believes them
- don't like how closed they are for there software side
- don't like the majority of owners who are snobbish, or just plain stupid thinking that the iphone/imac what ever, is the best thing on earth and nothing is better than it, and especially the way they try and justify the cost of there products despite the fact you can get much better products/components for a lot cheaper "oh but it has aluminium casing and feels like a premium device that is why it is so much more expensive "
- don't like steve jobs
- just don't like their software in general at all

And a lot of other things.......

Rant over, that felt good to get out :p

I wouldn't say spot the irony per-say and I wouldn't even go as far as saying so says the Android fanboi but surely I'm not the only one who can see the bias in that post :p
