o2 iphone4 downgrade?

Was it a 24 month contract?

£50 x 24 = £1200

The only justification for any contract like that is if you need 900+ minutes, and even then you're being shafted.

.

It was a good deal at the time because instead of paying £199 for handset , I was gonna pay £15 extra for 9 months which was £135 so I was going to save money , this is what O2 advisors said to me when I rang to find out about the iPhone 4, i am going to wait till my 9 months is up first which I think is end if this month and see what they say

You can downgrade at month 9 for 18 month contracts. On a 24 month contract you have to wait till month 12.

this is a email i got today after asking for a downgrade

Thanks for emailing us.

I checked you records and can see that you were told that you can
downgrade your tariff to next lower tariff, which is £41 18 months
contract.

I've given the details of the tariff below:

- £41.00 as monthly line rental.
- 1200 free minutes within the UK
- Unlimited text messages within the UK (media and messaging abroad
aren't included)
- Web Daily Bolt On (You can access 50 MB of Data with a maximum charge
of £1.02 per day)

Your iPhone Data Bolt-on will be removed when you'll downgrade to the
above mentioned tariff.

As our new tariffs don't include any free data allowances. You'll need
to purchase any of the below mentioned Bolt On according to your
requirement:

1) Basic £3 - 100 MB
2) All Rounder £6 gives you 500MB + Unlimited wifi + 20MMS (Multi Media
messages)
3) The works £10 gives you 1 GB of data + Unlimited wifi + 50 MMS (Multi
Media messages)

They should be using the old tariffs they had.

I was on a £20(+2.5% VAT change) old style tariff and downgraded to a £15(+2.5% VAT change) old style tariff in April .

Signed up July 2010.

Try and do it all online and see what it says.

Sign in -> go to mobile account -> My tariff & Bolt Ons -> Change my tariff.

Reply I got today after mentioning how many times I could downgrade , according to this they say I can go to £36 month one but still need £6 Bolt on for data lol

After lower down your tariff you can only once again downgrade your
tariff to O2 600 (18 months) tariff (£36). With *our new revised tariff,
you can lower your tariff only once.

If you want to change your tariff, please reply us. We'll then help you.

I appreciate your patience with this matter.

O2 600 24 month is £31, so that's probably right.

Use their live chat (if you can find it) instead of emailing them, it's far better.

I emailed them saying why should I be given the new tarrif when I took out my contract in 2010 and they changed it early 2011 so surely if I change my tarrif then it should be according to the tariffs that were available in 2010 ?my reply

Thanks for replying us.

We're no longer offering old tariffs to our customers as we've launched
new tariffs for 2011. So you can lower down your tariff on the tariff
mentioned in previous email.

I've checked our records and I'm unable to find a note on your account
where we promised to you about the tariff change on the old tariff.

If you still want to discuss your matter, you can call us on 08448 090

Ah hahahaha that's rich - we didn't put a note on your account so therefore anything an employee told you is not enforcable. Only in telco land :)

The simple fact is, you can't trust anything a network says to you. They won't back down unless you're really lucky.

Or you keep on hassling them over and over until they back down.

I used to think that the more you bothered them, the less likely they were to do what you wanted, but from seeing and listening to other people in my office, it appears that it's the total opposite.

AAANNND

Never buy an iPhone on contract, you'll get ripped off...

Buy it sim free and then get a sim only contract... Pretty much the only phone this works out cheaper with.
