The reason why Free To Play MMO's are destroying the Genre

Those arent FTP games, those are all still based on games with subscriptions. The plots on games which went FTP have all been cut off around this point.

DDO's player base increased to over 1 million after it went FTP, and that is not counted on those graphs, hence they are invalid.

I see nothing mentioning the MASSIVELY SUCCESSFUL Guild Wars or Asian FTP MMOs on there either.

The "Active Accounts" part of the 2nd graph is used to show F2P. Since it doesn't even break 1 million users, its not shown ;)

Snip

Here is one for the F2P. Looks like Second Life is the most played F2P game. Where is Guild Wars???

That is now as most gw players have probs finished most the content. Anyways it's a much better mmo than wow has ever been

Lots of players are still playing GW, lots of new people are still buying it and joining the game, GW is still successful with a large active player base, but obviously ignored because they dont want to put all the other games below WoW to shame .

Runescape has over 100 million active accounts I believe.
WoW has 11.3.

I play WoW, and I've played runescape, I prefer WoW more, but F2P is the best way to go, and the far more popular.

Double post, but thought I'd add something:

You are ignoring the facts, or misdirecting the questions they pose, and the questions they answer. Please stop this as when you talk of your 28 week old kid and how it'd be better to talk to him. I don't think you realize how hypocritical that is considering you refuse to change your opinion.

This isnt true, people will continue to pay for WoW because they have connections with their chars, if they stop paying then they lose all the time they put into the game.

People also make connections and friendships within the game and without paying they could lose these.

TLDR: Just because they are paying a sub doesn't mean they like the game

Sorry.. Got to hang you up on this load of bum gravy.

I stopped playing wow in 2006 after a long time playing end game, and didn't touch it again until January this year. During that hiatus: I lost none of the time I had invested (my character was still in the same place I logged out from), managed to keep in contact with friends I had met within the game, and didn't end up as a gibbering wreck. All without having to pay a subscription fee.

People play the game because they get enjoyment from it. You'd have to be a right royal retard to play a game that you don't enjoy, and pay for it at the same time.

Those graphs are hilarious. :D

Its the only place on the entire internet with figures and graphs to represent the current break down of the MMO genre.

Until either of you find anything else, this is the most accurate representation of the spread of MMO players.

I will more then happily concede if you find me ANYTHING numbers and figures wise credible that represents as much information as these graphs do.

Pray tell, what is the name of this site? Because I remember a site mentioned on a reputable podcast that states a site that has data opposing your said "only reputable data"

The MMORPG list and charts are based on latest available data, if no new data is made available, certain MMORPG's may be misrepresented. Furthermore many MMORPG's are not listed here because I have not enough information.

By the very person who creates these graphs. LOL

Ding ding ding ding!! We have a winner folks. A person with logic. :D

But according to you people play terrible games and waste their money in the cash store simply because they are free. Why would they do that if the games are terrible?

You possess no logical skills of your own.
