*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

There is a serious case of rose tinted glass going on with the original Deux Ex. So, no, it probably won't be as good, although it still looks quite good.

no way completely disagree...the game can be played today and is amazing still.
some games can manage it you know....quake 2 being another example.

I could never get into deus ex, I bought it when it was new and have tried multiple times since, I even bought the dual pack in the xmas steam sales but I just can't get into it,

What am I doing wrong? Everything I read about it makes me want to like it but I never could

it has its bugs and its a slow burner doesn't help it hit you straight away. To be honest it has to be slow (too slow in places) to allow you to get side tracks and bogged down in exploreing the landscape and playing detective. It didn't really sink in why it was so good till i was about 10 hours in which is actually a major investment of your time into a game these days.

I hope so but i doubt it very much, the videos of revolutions don't excite me as much maybe its the 3rd person view? Or maybe im loosing interest in games..

Everything that i have seen so far points to Human Revolution being very good indeed. As i said in another thread, even hardcore PC players seem to be pretty positive about it so it must be amazing really, as i imagine they were desperate to hate it.

This. You just have to read the first few pages of the Deus Ex thread to see people slagging it off in every possible way, then look at the last ten to see the same people stating that they can't wait after playing the leaked build.

To be honest, I'm not even going to compare the two when I play it. They're games from different decades, there's going to be differences in how things are done, and what can be achieved. If it can stand on it's own two feet I'll be more than happy. :)

From what I've seen the story looks like it's going to be superb though.

It probably won't be better than Deus Ex, that is pretty impossible. However, what it will or might be, is a good game, and hopefully a better 'Deus Ex' game than Invisible War ever was. That is all I expect from Human Revolution, and if it achieves that then I'm happy.

Nothing so far points to it being even close to the original Deus Ex unfortunatly...

Except the leaked build.

which demonstrated aside from a few niggles which are to be expected in a leaked build that it's very very good.

The leaked build did the job for me. Took me from no interest in the game at all, to pre ordering/pre loading it.

Could never get into the first game, so as long as it's decent by today's standards I'll be happy.

Just had a look on Amazon, and the only version that does have additional stuff is the Collector's Edition. But it isn't out yet for pre-order. I might look that up once the price falls a bit more.

The limited edition at shopto clearly states it comes with an extra mission and some weapons and that's the normal version.

Pre ordered on Steam. Like having things stored digitally.

It's a Steamworks game, it's stored digitally for everyone.

After having completed it I shall ask myself 'was it a good game?' If the answer is yes, then mission accomplished. Maybe they should have called it evolution not revolution, because it won't be the same as before.

Well its a first person somethingotherother :)
Still has some shooting, with decent (hopefully!) storyline, RPG/adventure game elements.

Actually what genre would you call this game?
