it only makes sense that Battlefield 3, one of the year's biggest European-developed games, would make a huge splash at Europe's biggest gaming event. And what a splash that is: EA and DICE have brought not one but two new playable demos to this year's Gamescom. On one end of the size spectrum there's a two-player demo drawn right from the game's new co-op campaign, and way down there on the far end is the 64-player Conquest multiplayer demo from the PC version of Battlefield 3. It took more than a little time in line, but we managed to go hands-on with both.

Yes I downgraded. I got more than I paid for my SB setup. I have now purchased a i7 rig for £140. So I've saved several hundred.

Okay the i7 isn't nearly as good as SB on paper, but my bank balance sure does love me. Means I have extra spending cash when I go on holiday with mates.

An i7 bundle for £140 is a pretty good bargain and tbh, still a very powerful gaming rig.

Meh.

It's a pc. In a few years it'll all be out of date. Spending my hey days causing mayhem with friends and chasing women will also be out of date, and it's not something a few hundred quid will fix.

Dice still havn't confirmed or denied if you're stuck with the same soldier name as your origin account name, and if you can only have 1 soldier. You'd think something that basic would have been answered long ago, heads are still in the sand it seems.

Thats why i created a new account,ive got 13 personas with EA and they messed my old account up as some you cant use on certain games,EA are clowns for letting this account name stuff go on for years,i think they have many thick heads who work in the accounts dept,its not rocket science to let your user base have a name they would like is it EA thick heads :eek:

What kinda spec would I need to play this game on medium/high - high preferably on a 1680x1050 screen. Just need to make a very cheap build for uni that can play this.

So it seems that BF3 is going to PAX, seeing as this is a gamers show i wonder if the Beta will be announced there, would make sense.

Has anyone managed to get a 20% discount code for Origin to work recently? I have been speaking to Tier 2 today, and although the guy was helpful (he gave me a code to try, it didn't work) he says the codes they have don't work for BF3 pre-orders.

This is an excerpt from the chatlog:

Courtney H.: I definitely understand, but this is only because I cannot provide you a code that will work for the pre order, I have clarified this with supervisors

He offered me a game download of my choice as a gift instead, I rejected this as I simply wanted a code for my BF3 pre-order, rather than a game I would never play!

Helpful guy but couldn't get me a working code, I told him I would not give up so easily so I intend to have another few goes!

Well people on here seem to think the spec ive got (check sig) will just about run it on high, maybe some settings medium.

This is a massive issue for me as i cant get the soldier name i want isf thats the case, it would also mean you wouldnt be able to start a new soldier up later on if you wanted to go through the ranks again. Having the soldier name tied to the master id is ridiculous as lots of peoples will want their Bad company 2 soldier name to be the same going into bf3 especially us in clans so if we cant its a joke imo.

This would not bother me so much if I was able to change it. I have around 10 BF personas and would like to be able to use just one of them, rather than my EA I.D, which sucks. The only reason my EA I.D, is not the same as my main BF persona is that when I joined Origin / EA Store or whatever it was called is that I chose my BF Persona as my EA I.D and guess what? They said it had been taken which is true, it was taken my me! Shambles tbh.

I just spoke to EA again and eventually they gave me a working code, took a bit of effort but order placed at £31.99

Just waiting on EA and Coke Zone Support getting back to me about the £10 voucher code that didn't work, EA just replied asking me to send them a scan of the Coke Zone email voucher so hopefully they'll get it sorted soon.
