Loved this video from the Cologne Gamescom - some truly stunning graphics - the dog fighting looks awesome! - Was actually there in Cologne while it was on last week and went past a bar having a big party but it was invite only!

Will this be one of those games where actually having the best graphic options actually impeeds MP play?

Some games are better on crud settings so you see more, dont have the vegetation/litter etc blocking views? Is BF3 like this?

If you want to be truly competitive online then yeah turning down some IQ options will no doubt give you an advantage in certain situations in game. Are you realy going to play with tessellation on if it drops your FPS well below 60 FPS, for me I care more about the winning than graphics fidelity when online gaming.

Yes, what's the point of having a high end card and not maxing out the IQ.

Beside is only a game, doesn't matter if you're winning or losing as long you're having fun.

For me, maxing out games is reserved for single player. Online, even if I can run at 60fps at max, if dropping some or all settings gives me better visibility, then down they go.

is that the reason you have such a high k/d ratio in bf2:eek:

Surely high detail is also an advantage in some scenarios? Like spotting people at long range? The reason I'm asking is because it seems that it'd be easier to spot someone further away if details and draw distance is max'd.

Is anybody else having problems with Origin.

When i log in to Origin and try to visit Order History it wont let me load the page up. It's been doing it since i Pre-ordered BF3 about 6 days ago?

I have the same but I have received the confirmation email and the money was taken from PayPal immediately so I'm not overly concerned.

yea but i think some people use lower settings to remove certain graphical details that would obscure line of sight, such as foliage. Tho I havent tried this in BC2 so cant comment if it makes a difference. Personally I prefer all the eye candy on even if it means lower fps than 60.

Woo Hoo!

Just got myself another 5850, So will be running [email protected] , 4GB DDR2 + 5850CF.

Should see me through until next spring.

I just hope my Antec Truepower 650W has enough juice for it all (inc 4 x HDDs).

Dont get me wrong, id love to have all the graphics maxed, but if someone is able to spot me before I see them, just because they have the settings turned down... then whats the point of it all?

Yes its for fun and thats all ill play for, have a good time. But if im getting killed and not having a fair crack in that firefight, then it removes the fun as I know that potentially said player could be running the game on low and not having things impeed him.

Of course like everyone having the game look the part helps the immersion and hopefully running the game at max wont be much of a hinderance.

this is what put me off bad company 2 on the pc, the long grass looks great on some maps and I would try to hide in it only to get taken out by the guys running rock bottom detail that could see me clear as day on the surface of the ground.

I can see what people mean. I can remember on occasions where Ive been shot at when clearly being hidden in grass or something else organic. But I think I can ignore this in exchange for playing the game maxed out!
