You pull me for being harsh to a guy who purposely searched for my older threads to continue an issue whilst in doing so did an outstanding fail by only proving that I did test drive the cars at the time yet its fully ok for me to receive grief across multiple threads for simply recomending an alternative to a Civic and getting ripped to peices off a collection of people who havent owned or driven either car, thats some pretty sweet moderating right there!

You have to assume these things when such diabolical mistakes are made, I have no issue with people with special needs, I asked the question so that in the future I would understand why the guy makes these failures

As for the topic, try a Civic Type-R everyone else in OCUK Motors has
 
You could claim back the responder mileage if you wanted. (I don't but I know those who do)

I didn't believe this when I read it but a quick search shows that if you don't mind buying around the 100k mile mark you are right.

If you don't want anything that leggy a vRS Octy is tricky at this budget. Too much to pay for a mk1 but not going to buy you the best mk2.
 
There are just sooo many way to solve this without resort to selling the car you love.

1 - Do 2 trips
2 - Online shopping
3 - Online shopping the essentials (save a list) + going in for random bits once a week
4 - Use the passenger seat
5 - Get a lift/taxi
6 - Eat less
7 - Get a roof rack with storage
8 - Get a banger for £200 purely for shopping trolley.

I don't think we need anymore reasons :p

All have plenty of room in the back. Depends what running costs you are prepared to accept. Loads of choice but the VRS is a very good suggestion.
 
Welll.... haters gonna hate. BUT I think I have done the right thing. Nath, you are possibly right but the MINI is getting on a bit and I am getting a tad bored. So I will show you what I have opted for.

It's a 2003 Volvo S60 2.0T. Full Leather Electric Seats (With heater!) Cruise Control, Climate Control, 5CDC, 61k on the clock with 1 owner and FSH. For a princely sum of £2,900. I even get a Cheque for £900 back on my MINI :)

Drives very smooth, 1 minor scuff to the rear which will be sorted. Pick it up tomorrow :)
