Source? I read previously zh1nt0 said this was not the case.
I can't really see why you would want to turn down the settings (if your rig can perform at a higher settings level) simply so that you can spot campers easily. If you don't want to get spotted whilst camping in long grass then don't camp.
You have been able to hack in this way since the early quake/CS days, but it's just so lame.
Ill see how my current pair cope, if not ill upgrade. Though funds are a bit tight as im in the process of building another i7 x58 rig using secondhand parts, replacement for an ancient s939 rig.I will definitely get another 480 for this if I can't run it maxed out at 1920X1200![]()
Be interesting to see where this ends up. I expect with a bit of bad publicity they'll have to limit it.
Some people may do it to camp, but if you play this game properly.. at times you will need to use the cover to help you out, whether it be sneaking around the back or if you have been in a big firefight and need to reload, regroup or whatever.
If you dont get that chance because of someones settings, then how is that fair game.. IF they get it because you have a better machine?
What the developers should do is not remove the textures or whatever the graphics are, and just replace them with just a black image, so grass strands would just be empty black strands etc - might not look nice for them, but thats tough![]()
Have just added another 5770 in crossfire and am now getting 60ish fps on high outside, 90-100ish fps inside on high and auto was about 80-90 fps.
So all in all a very nice performance gain for little money![]()
Just quoting myself from when I was in the alpha, I think it should be a bit smoother for the full release. Thinking that you might need a 6990 to run it on high is a bit OTT. I know the game is going to be one of the best looking games made so far, but dice wouldn't sell that many units if they had a 6990 minimum spec to run it on high.
Stop panicing
edit: this should have been the original post that was quoted before I added the extra 5770:
i5 2500k at stock, 4gb ram & 1gb ati 5770 card and am getting about 35fps on high (1680x1050) but if I put it on auto I am running at 60+fps and it still looks good
edit 2: I fail at reading, just noticed that you are talking about eyefinity.
Same. I doubt he'll be able to produce a source.
